Building Computer Questions

3 questions, first the age old one. I want to do video editing and gaming. I know that AMD is better for gaming. If I go AMD I am going to get the 939 2.2GH processor. If I go with Intel I am going to get the LLG 3.4 GH. How much better is the Intel for Video editing then AMD. 2 which chipset should I go with for AMD. Last question, I am trying to decide on a Monitor. I have heard that ViewSonic is really good. I am looking for a 19 inch Flat Screen CRT. Could somebody explain to me how to look for good specs on a monitor. Thanks

i don't know if hyperthreading will help when it comes to video editing but i think it will. the only thing i can tell you is not matter what you decide when it comes to a monitor you still need to have your work outputted through a properly calibrated tv so as to see what the viewer will see.

The Video Guys say...
"WARNING: We do NOT recommend motherboards based on the nVidia chipsets. We are running into a wide range of issues with them. While they may be OK for gaming, they are not for NLE."
This will give you some idea of how the 3.4 stacks up against the 3500+ 😉 "If the 3500+ has a weakness, it's media encoding."

What sort of "Video Editing" are we talking here? hashing together two 5 minute movie clips? or all out editing scenes, adding text, and everything on 2 hour movies?

Intel is much better for true video encoding and editing and all that if your going to be doing a buncha true production quality stuff but if all your doing is ripping DVD's then your fine with AMD.
