Building Computer -- Need advice

First off, let me list my specs on the computer. This computer is basically going to be used for gaming and multimedia.

Case: Thermaltake Kandalf
CPU: AMD 64 4000+
RAM: 1 gig Corsair XMS (2x 512)
Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
HD: Western Digital Caviar 80G 7200rpm
Power: Thermaltake Silent PurePower 420watt
Video: MSI 6800 GT 256bit 256megs
CD-Drive: Samsung DVD-RW/CD-RW Dual Layer
Floppy: Basic Sony Floppy

Anyways. I'll admit I'm very "green" when it comes to building PCs. I've been learning steadily over these past months and would like to know if these are solid specs that will work well with each other. I'm buying all my parts from New Egg and I'm also curious if I will needto buy additional cables and what not. Most my experiance is from upgrading computers, not building them from scratch...So any help or guidance would be helpful.

Thanks.

Which model CORSAIR memory do you intend to use?
(XMS4400, 4000, 3200, Twin, Pro, etc....)

It makes a difference if you plan on using Dual Channel memory.

The board does not support DDR400 Dual Channel Double-sided modules.
Only DDR333 Dual Channel Double-side modules are supported.

If you can afford to budget wise, consider going with a SATA drive.

I had planned on using Corsair XMS DDR 400 PC3200 OR a equal OCZ version of the same RAM, as I hear they are better for overclocking. I intend to overclock but I am not savy on the details of it, I'm beginning to read about it here and intend to experiament on this PC when I build it.

But yes, I did intend to use dual channel RAM, but you say it wont dual channel DDR 400?

And I believe the drive I intend to purchase is a SATA HD.

As I said, the board does not support DOUBLE-SIDED DDR400 modules.
That does not mean that they will not upgrade the BIOS or MB Revision to do so in the future.

But trust me. It will not work.

DDR333 Dual Channel. That's the ticket. 😀
