From BBC News...

An apartment building in a residential area of New Jersey has collapsed, sparking fears of multiple injuries. A cloud of smoke visible from neighbouring Manhattan is billowing from the building in Bergenfield. number of neighbouring buildings appear to be on fire as well. Emergency services have rushed to the scene.

No details were available, but initial reports suggested that a gas explosion may have ripped through the building at around 0930 (1430 GMT).

Couldn't see this on the sites of CNN, ABC or MSNBC as of now.

More info:

There were reports that people were trapped in the rubble of the collapsed block.

Television pictures showed a plume of steam and smoke rising from the three-storey building that appeared to have partially collapsed - with fires clearly visible inside the structure.

Firefighters used hoses and cannons to blast the building with water and retardant.

The American media hasn't reported REAL news in quite some time, perhaps they've forgotten how. For them to print it, it doesn't need any truth, but it does need to be spoonfed by the Department of "Homeland Security".

Temps in Bergenfield NJ are around 20* right now. Going to be one hell of a mess as all that water they're pouring onto that building turns to ice.

my poli-sci professor once noted that 20-30 years ago, on a 30 minute news broadcast, nearly half was devoted to foreign news, half was national stories, and then maybe a quick special interest case.....now it's 17 minutes of worthless fluff type things, maybe 5 minutes for national news, and literally 30 seconds for foreign affairs. This is why I don't watch american news channels...I will listen to NPR though

BBC....FTW!!

So clearly, this apartment collapse isn't real news, since CNN covered it.
