Building Car MP3 Player ?

Who has experience building one ? I am planning to build a simple box to run windows & MP3 player for my car. (I know, I know linux is the way, but I am not experienced enough to build linux box, let alone create one that runs car mp3 player 🙁 If only someone is kind enough to send me the ghost image 😀😀)

anyway,

I can build a really small and slim box, and get a converter from regular pc power supply to the cigarrate lighther power, or something...

The question is:
1. Is there a better powersupply that plugs right into cigarate lighther PS?
2. How do I control the box in my trunk easily from the driver seat? (LCD ? or simple keypad, infrared?)
3. How to automatically shutdown system when you turn off your car, Is there a way to autodetect power disconnection and run a script that will properly shutdown the box?

This seems like a very complex project, but very interesting if I can put everything together for under $300 🙂

I found some good website with tutorials, but still not enough info.

wouldn't it be easier if you just buy a creative jukebox, and use a car converter? that's still under $300 budget too.
