Good Afternoon!

I've received excellent feedback from many people on these forums. At this point, I'm just about ready to order the parts for my 2nd gaming build. I just have a few questions left.

I am trying to build a budget gaming machine that will keep up with the latest PC games for the next two yeats. Here are my questions:

Which Lian Li case?
Lian Li PC-60USB B2 Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Lian Li PC-7B plus II Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Which mobo?
Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI K8N SLI-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Will this AMD processor be good enough?
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Processor Model

And how about this video card?
eVGA 256-P2-N553-AX Geforce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

Thanks!

i have a PC-75...lol though its big, i really like it. the case is up to you really. the 60USB is older generation, and the 7B plus II is newer generation. whichever you want really. only a 10 dollar difference.

mobo...how about an epox/asus? though those boards you listed arent bad by any means.

cpu wise...you can drop that cpu down to a 3200+/3000+. you will only lose 200mhz, which you can easily OC back up to. save aroud 60 bucks...

video card...excellent! i would pick that same one myself.

good choices! and dont hesitate to ask any questions to us!

Thanks secretanchitman!

You've given me a lot to think about, especially WRT to the CPU. If I save the $60 now, I can always upgrade to the 3700+ in a year or so and it might be as cheap as a 3200+ now. Good point!

And I will look into the epox/asus mobos.

Well, I'm using some parts from a previous build so it's not a full build (don't need to buy optical drives & hard drives).

Given that, I am looking to spend around $600 for the case, mobo, PSU, processor and video card.

Does that work?

Total: $710 - ($65 in rebates) ==> $645

And to reiterate, I am intending this to last me two years. I am using parts from a previous rig.

So what do you think?

thats good, and how about a PSU? get a nice quality fortron/antec/sparkle/seasonic 450W psu. that should do you fine.

LOL, I guess it's all about your perspective. There are some "budget builds" that exceed $2,000.

Can I put the 3200+ single core in the MSI dual core 939 socket?

Just want to make sure before I pull the trigger...

EDIT: Never mind...looked it up on the MSI site...it's all good...
