I've been doing a lot antivirus research, testing/evaluating, and cleaning of viruses at work. At the firm I'm with I'm the antivirus security administrator.

So... since I've developed such an interest into this stuff, and I've had programming experience, some day I hope to code my own antivirus scanner. In the mean time I need to draw attention and recognition... so I'm getting a site going.

AntiSource.com

I have another non-related site uploaded to it for now, haven't really begun to design the new site for it.

I want suggestions! What would you guys like to see in an antivirus site? What type of navigation should I use? What is your favorite antivirus? color scheme?

thanks in advance

To be frank, for me to consider using an anti-virus site, it's gotta have proven results as well as clear, correct information. 90% of the time I check out Symantec's site (sarc.com). A clean site design goes without saying.

I use symantec's cleaning tools because they're free and the best, but their site is extremely hard to navigate. Take a look at Sophos.com, I think their virus library is the easiest to use, just do a simple search and you get a list of articles pertaining to that keyword.

Well, I think most everything that can be said about virus prevention has been said many times over. I've already got my list of sites that I usually hear about viruses from first, and I'd be hard-pressed to start using a new one unless it was truly amazing. Usually between TheReg, VMyths, SARC, CERT and SANS I get the dirt pretty well.

If you're ever going to write a virus scanner, I'd say be the first to put service ahead of PR. Symantec, McAfee, AVG and a number of others all typically wait to tell you about a virus until they can use it as good PR--"There's a terrible new virus, but don't worry, we've got you protected."
They conveniently leave out that the virus had been circulating for a week.
