Hey guys,

here is the rundown. Epox 8k7a+ mobo, 2 256 sticks of crucial pc2100 ddr ram. When I booted it up the first time w/o any drives in, it was fine. I made some changes to the bios... now when I boot up the computer w/o any drives, just mobo and ram... my computer beeps. like BEEP..... BEEEP.....BEEP....BEEP..... (keeps beeping) and my motherboard gives a code C1 on it.
Anyone have any ideas??? Im pulling my hair out. Thanks in advance.

Well, if everything was fine before you messed with BIOS settings, then I'm guessing changing the BIOS settings did it. Try pulling out the battery on the Mobo, and then put it back in. This will reset CMOS and might fix your problem.

like leaping frog said, reset your bios with the jumper, if that don't work, pull out the battery and wait a little.... also, look in your mobo manual for that code C1.. it should tell u whats wrong.

I did all that. I changed the jumper to CLEAR CMOS... and then the computer didn't evne start at all. It's supposed to do that right? I also took out the battery and waited a while.

In the manual, it says something for C1h.. DETECT MEMORY
auto-detection of dram size, type and ECC
auto detection of l2 cache (socket 7 or below)

Apparently its something to do with the RAM, but I never touched the ram after I installed it the first time and went through the BIOS.

If you put the jumpers back, battery back in and it still doesn't work and you get that error, then try reseating the RAM. That might help.

You have your vid card in its slot, right?

Maybe try connecting the drives again since it worked with them? I'm not sure. Just try everything you can think of :)

No it never worked with the drives in. Basically, it worked when I first put in the cpu, ram, and booted up to change the bios.
Then I shut down, installed everything else, rebooted... and have been getting the errors since then.
Now Ive stripped everything again... down to the cpu, and ram only. Still beeping.

Could my ram be bad???

Make sure you have your ram in Bank0 first, then up to Bank1, and so on. Many motherboards are very picky about this. Your manual should make a mention of it somewhere.
