I am looking to build a system soon and I was looking for suggestions. Here is what I plan to build.

I was wondering if this is a good system and I am also looking for any suggestions on substitutions I should make. Also, I am wondering if the P3 is the way to go or the Athlon.

Sounds like a good system

Better price for good ram

And you can do better with that video card. Find untamo on the for sale/trade forum for great deals on Geforce 2 cards. He sells OEM 32 mb GTS and he sells them for $150. Don't remember exact specifications.

anyone have any suggestions????

i also forgot to add that the p3 would be overclocked to 933 or higher
can i do this with the stock heatsink and fan or should i invest in a better one (like the ALPHA PAL6035)

I would definatly get a better Heatsink/fan if your gonna be overclocking it. Check out 2cooltek I would also get a GF2 instead, its only like 40 more retail.

z-buy.com has a geforce2 gts 32mb for $199. should i get that or is there a better brand of card to get with the geforce2 gts?

i forgot to put in the gf2 card is also from creative labs

I would definatly get the GF2 , its only $199 and Creative Labs makes a very good card.

should i get a p3 or an amd? and which is better DSL or Cable?

Personally I would get a AMD Duron because of its price/performance ratio. And a MSI K7T pro2 and a PromiseTrack ata 100 card. And between DSL and Cable it depends. If you have DSL and your far away from the switching station then it will be slow but with cable it doesnt matter. But if tons of people have cable in your area they could slow you down. But overall I would get Cable.

Personally I like the AMD systems better. They're cheaper for a similarily clocked machine. Mwave is selling the KT7 Mobo for $130, and a K7 800 thunderbird for $165. You also get a 200Mhz FSB.
