Hey guys, I skimmed the forums a bit, and I noticed you don't really have much info on phase changes, so I decided to post a little guide on what tools you'll need to make one, then in a short while when I **attempt** to build my own, I'll be posting a second guide that actually shows how to build one

lol thats because water here is exotic enough.

Phase and your getting extreme.

I can only think of 4 people on this forum that uses phase. And one person burnt out his Vapo LS while trying to calm down his QX series.

<looking at yoxxy> >:]

Anyhow, i'll be interested in your design and pics. As for a guide, i dont think theres enough to stir up a migration on this forum. Xtremesystems.org/forums/ <-- in there phase forum. Is most likely where you will get the most help and imputs.

The majority of the info is at xs already, so I didn't bother to post it there

But I'll be making a phase soon and will be posting that up too

About the vapo ls thing, check this out, the vapo can't handle a quad core, and that's why it burnt out
http://www.xcpus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268
It shows how you can mod a vapo/prommie into being able to handle a quad

But still, we at xcpus would like more members to join, it's a new forum and it's booming with a bunch of tomshardware vets that have been banned without reason because the mods didn't like them being smarter

Just check it out to the least, as I said there's a ton of hardware gurus there, so there's tons of info

btw...anyone that joins...just remember that alig da taco referred youQ^_^

Did the phase-change enthusiast explain what component went south on his LightSpeed?

Well, if you check out the phase mods thread I made, long story short, the vapo's evap is just too weak to handle a quad core. I know this because a friend of mine (kayl, maybe you've heard of him at xs) completely suped up an old mach 2, put in a 3/4hp compressor, a massive condensor, and a longer cap line, regassed it with a better one (don't remember which) but he left the same evap there. Really, for even a quad, you just need a 1/4hp compressor and a nice sized condensor, and a good evap.

Which shows how bad the evap on it is, I wish this forum would let you post pictures so I could make this clearer. So because the evap couldn't handle the heatload of a quad, my guess is that the compressor got overloaded and burnt itself out. I'll ask kayl to head over here and see what he thinks once I get back in contact with him.

Head on over to xcpus for more info on this stuff, and seriously, we need more members, so the more the merrier^_^

I know my stuff to but.. It really is pointless to build your own unit. Why? well because you have to buy the gases($100-$500), the manifolds($60 to$100), and a good compressor($150-$300), evap($100), and all the copper you will need($$50-$100). So thats already $500, and how many times are you going to use this stuff, maybe once or twice. Its better to get a unit built for you, it will be cheaper in the long run, and it will be built right. And be tuned to cool the maximum the unit can cool. I was going to make my own, but i said nah, just get Nol to build it. And you get a warranty on the units..... Just some info to think on before you spend money on the items.

EDIT: Oh yea the vacuum pump... Cheaps ones wont cut it, so thats $300 there.

Umm, you don't use a phase just one or twice. Unlike dice and ln2, phases can be used like hsfs as long as you give the compressor a break each night or so

And unless if you didn't know, you can scavenge a lot of the parts from air conditioners and what not, so much for spending $300 on a compressor

I don't plan to spend over $200 on this, there are ways to get things done without spending a fortune you know, I've even seen it done for under $100 (of course that guy made his own evap too. That's total bs that you can get someone to build you a phase with worthwhile parts in it for $500, you'd be lucky to get it for under $700 for a custome one, the cheapest I've ever seen is under-the-ice selling a custom one for $720, but that's a stipped down one pretty much.

I really want to see you come up with a $500 professional made phase, no seriously, if you can, that could offer a nice option, but, considering my friend works for an ac repair company, I can get just about every part I need from him for either free or ridiculously cheap, as I said, I don't intend to spend over $200 on this

Thanks for the link to the worklog. Very informative for someone that doesn't know much about phase.

no problem, I'm going to try to build a phase as I already said, but to do that, we at xcpus need support, so simply join the forum and say alig referred you so we can continue with this project^_^

Contact NOL on xtreme systems. He can do it no problem. Mine only cost about $575, but then i added extra like being tuned for quad, temp displays. And custom fitted into a UFO. Its kinda ponitless to scavenge parts. Why? Well its probably trash for a good reason. Why invest $200 in a unit if it dies next week?

I suggest rereading the guides that you have copy pasted from Shamino. You've post some MAJOR errors as of this time. Those errors may not kill you, but they certainly aren't something you want to screw up.
As for Vapochill evaporator not being up to snuff, its one of the better evaporators (though Gosmeyers new one is probably going to take the cake) and it is far better then Chilly1's current spiral revision.
As for a $500 unit? Most of my builds are around $500, and a $399 solution that is quiet, economical, low power consumption, good lookin', and subzero with dual core loads will soon be offered by Magnaphase Corp.

After checking his website, Ali you sir are a plagarizing peice of crud. Simply copying many peoples guides and posting them as your own.
