Soon i'm going to build my own PC. I wanted to know about the CPU and motherboard do i have to solder the chip on to the motherboard? Or should i just buy a motherboard with a CPU?
 
Welcome, Thanks for the unintended chuckle. 🙂 All modern CPU's are ZIF (as in Zero Insertion Force) sockets and require no soldering. A good beginners site for building your own PC is http://www.mechbgon.com/
If you have any other questions, please ask before doing anything drastic like soldering. 🙂
 
Thanks alot, my friend claim he knew about building computers and he said i had to solder my cpu on to my motherboard now that i know that he knows nothing about building computers i'm coming here for all my imformation.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Do some research and read some articles. Even if you state what you want to use the PC for, people can point you where to begin. Good luck though, and I wouldn't listen to you friend..hah
 
If you are not sure whether you have to solder the chip onto the board then I would definitely recommend that you buy. You may want to just watch someone else build one first before deciding whether to do it for yourself. But if you try to solder the chip on you will wind up wasting a lot of money and getting frustrated.
 
I say go for it.
However I wouldn't spend a ton of money on a first build.
Building a PC isn't rocket science. Just be sure to take your time and read all the manuals and instructions, that come with the parts, thoroughly.
If you have a friend (not the CPU soldering guy) that has built a few PCs it might be a good idea to have him/her help ya out if you run into a snag. Plus this forum is a great source for getting help.

Budget?

and DO NOT listin to your solder friend no matter what he says. Anyone who has came anywhere NEAR a computer in the last 5 years knows that all cpu's these days are the ZIF type.

"now you have to weld your dvd burner into the case. Screws? what are those?"......... i can see it now... haha
