Anyone know any good guides for assembling pc's or should i just follow the motherboard guide?

Also, do computer shops put together pc's if you bring in the parts? If so, does anyone know how much this would cost? Thanks !

I think most computer shops would only put together a PC for you if you bought the parts there, though some may do it if some of the parts are elsewhere (and some presumably even if everything bought elsewhere). Cost depends on the shop, though I'd assume they'd charge more for building if most bits are bought elsewhere.

Personally I'd rather do it myself, partially because some PC shops er arent exactly very clued in, it can help you to understand the comp (or rather understand whats gone wrong if something does later), and it's kind of fun :)

Hes right, i took apart my old comp and put it back together again and it was rather fun. Itll be even easier for you as you will have the manuals there to tell you how to do everthying if required.

First, read the motherboard manual. It should tell you just about everything. But look around. Read some other guides to just be safe. Most pc stores where I live will put together your pc, but it's not worth it. It's much easier, cheaper, and more fun to do it yourself. Go for it.

I used Mechbgon's guide when I built my first computer a few months ago. It was invaluable and everything went together great. Try it yourself it is not that hard.

I've built machines as part of my work for years and Mechbgon's guide is the best one I've seen. He does a nice step-by-step description with pictures. I just recently read through it. Kudos!

You can do it. The only cavet on building yourself, is when problems happen. Like if your MB doesn't post, or you throw the power switch and nothing happens. On my recent build, both these things happened to me and I really never figured out what caused them. In both cases, I removed cards, and reseated my memory modules, and after a few tries, the computer came back. The computer shop will help you if your new computer doesn't work, but they'll charge you to do it.
It would be like you working on a car, messing up, then taking it to the dealer. They would use their own parts to get the machine running.
