Building a PC to be sent overseas, 2 questions.`

QueBert

I'm building a PC that will be sent to Jordan. I have 2 questions tho, first. Will a monitor work with just the plug converter thing? I know power supplies have the voltage switch, but I'm not 100% sure that you can just hook any old monitor up and have it work.
2nd, I know I can buy Windows XP here, and install it with support for their Native language, but what about Office XP? I'm trying to have the basic software installed before I send it (so I know it works)

Find out if they use 220v over there. If they do, I think radio shack sells a converter you can use along with the adapter.

yeah they use 220v, I wasn't sure if there was more then just the power conversion to think about when it came to the monitor. Thanks for the reply, I will be at Radio Hack later and pick one up.

to answer your 2nd question: Office XP will work once you set the regional settings in the OS...no action needed there.

Check your monitor. Many can already run at 220. There should be a tag on it with the power requirements. You also want to check the frequency (50 vs. 60 Hz). I don't know what Jordan uses. The only think you may be missing is the cord with the correct plug.

There may be issues with sending the software out of the country. There are certain restrictions applied, especially to anything that has to do with encryption. Check into what laws may apply.

thank you, you guys have been tons of help. I did a little Googling but my searches suck so bad I couldn't find any good info. last question.

He wants the OS to be switchable between English and Arabic on the fly, like with different users. I messed with my pc and couldn't see anything on XP that would allow different users to use different langauges. any ideas here? last question I got 🙂
