Free shipping at buy.com is for items under 20lbs ONLY. Maybe you can ask them to take it apart, and ship pieces at a time. I dont know how many times ive heard people say, "buy.com has free shipping, im going to order the 4 ton elephant....". If it only worked that way. Onvia is the only true free shipping for this case.

I plan on building a total kick a$$ amd system around feb when i can get my hands on 266 ddr. But this case looks GREAT.. the file server one.. need xtra drive space and fan's on hd's. I would probley just use the two fan's it comes with plus the one on the hard drives. A concern i have is noise.. is this case demed quiet by any standard?

the system i plan to build

amd 1.2 thunder
abit with raid.. needs to take ddr..something like the kt-7 raid board?
256 ddr
have burner on a different computer so just a good dvd
two ata 100 ibm 30 gig drives
soundblast live
and the rest of the crap that goes with it
ms natural keyboard
cordless intelli mouse
creative labs digital speakers
mike/headset for dialpad.com and wilco

but i really want a kick ass cooler for it.. that isn't too loud... will this one do?

Just ordered the sx1030. looks like a killer case.. also there is a differen't post on the 80mm antec fans for 4.95 free over night ship so now i'll have all 4. Probley only use 3. From what the other post said the fan's arn't the quietest or the most powerful. But it is a good flowing fan for the noise and the $$... Bang.. droped $100 but part one of my new system is down.. has the new atx power standard too.. bonus.. Amd approved!!

for the fans

My SX1030B is much quieter than my old generic case w/a 250W psu and only 80mm 1 case fan. I think I read somewhere that the Antec psu is one of the quietest ones around. I only have 3 80mm fans in the Antec case right now, though. My cpu fan is only a golden orb, much quieter than my pep66 w/delta fan, so that keeps down noise too and it's good enough to let me run my P3 700@1ghz.

Just recieved my SX830 from Onvia today... naturally UPS put a nice little quarter sized dent on the side of it, but I accepted it anyway.(will probably try to work out a way to swap out the panel...)

I love this case, built like a mack truck and plenty of room.

Just one question though. On the antec site, and on all reviews I've read it shows the SX830 as having room for (3)5 1/4
drives, (2)exposed 3 1/2 drives , and (3) internal 3 1/2 drives.

Mine came with two of the removable 3 1/2 inch drive bays. Just like the SX1030. Maybe I just got lucky, or this was a change in the manufacturing design. (The box even shows just the one drive bay as well).

I'm not complaining... but if this is how they're supposed to be, you'd think antec would advertise the change.

I reccomend this case to anyone now... looks like a winner to me.

Wyckedcool, thanks for the heads up about the cd burner... didn't even consider that. Onvia kicks ass, I ordered it on the 19th (at night). Onvia shipped it the next day, and it came today (21st). Too bad I wasn't here to pick it up. Doesn't matter though, can't even put my computer together until the end of the year. Still, it'd be nice to just look at it... heheh...

[update]: just got mine in! this is one gorgeous case! now all i need is a hd/floppy/mobo/proc and I'm all set to go! Oh also bought two more case fans from Outpost, there's another thread going on about that one... do a search for it...

I received my fans and SX1030 today, and I must say I couldn't be more pleased with the case. It is one bad-ass case, especially when I SNAPPED two more fans into it. This is a well built, well thought out case and certainly worth $91.49 shipped. I can't wait to slap a A7V, my Super Orb and a 1ghz T-Bird into this sucker and finally fire it up. Too bad we all can't split a tube of Arctic Silver!

I don't want to build my system yet. Will any motherboard fit in this case? Will this case be compatible with any new Mobo out now or in the future? What do you think?

Today I received SX830 from onvia(it was a recommendation, not this thread) and just finished assembling my system. I have to say it was a pleasure to work with this case. I have Casedge LX734A, which ain't bad either, but this baby kicks some major ass. After all, it's "workstation" class case, not some stinkin' "midtower peesee" :). It's full tower, 5.25 drives use slide-in rails, 8(!) 3.5 bays(two right below 5.25 in a slide-out chassis and two 3-bay chassises below that). Not that I'm planning on using up all of them, but nice to have. Comes with 2 fans in the back and two fan holders in the front. Crazy overclockers may add 2 more fans to make it a small airplane; I just took one from the back and put it in the front to blow in. Easily-removable side panel with a nice lock to impress your g/f. Excellent overall. Get it.

I have a couple of the Antec cases as well, and they are quite nice. Two questions though;
Why would you replace the power supply w/ a Sparkle?? I have had very bad luck w/ those things.
Is there a coupon for that 4 ton Elephant, I have the one for the 3 ton, but I really want a 4 ton!!!

I ordered a 1030 case on the 20th from Onvia. The website said it was in stock. I checked their website yesterday, the 27th, and my order is still " in process", which is the same status as the day I ordered. I talked to a CSR and he said he would get back to me today. He didn't so I called again and talk to another CSR. She researched my order and said it will ship today from Tennesee by UPS ground. I know that's 5-7 business days. She thinks I will get it by next Monday, I don't think so because I have ordered stuff from St Louis by UPS ground and it is 6 business days like clockwork. I wanted to cancel the order, but she said I couldn't, but I could refuse the shipment and when they track it back they would credit my CC. I also ordered 128 mb of CAS 2 memory that was "in stock". Well it still isn't and they don't know when it will be. I cancelled the memory order. Point is, what they say is in stock on their website might not be. I would call and place my order, and not trust their website. I ordered the 1030 case first and the other computer parts after, I received the other parts and I am now waiting on the case before I can build my T-Bird system. 15+ days is too long to wait for an "in stock item".

yeah esquared the same thing happpened to me. I ordered the 1030 on the 21st and it still said in process on the website. I called and the guy said it took so long because they couldn't ship from the preferred warehouse for california. I don't know what that means but he said it was shipped today. I'm waiting on it to build my system too. I guess I should have checked back earlier.

I ordered mine on the 21'st. It shipped on the 22'nd from San Jose, but it stayed in the UPS warehouse until yesterday. It should be delivered tommorow. I guess they are in stock at some of the warehouses. It just depends on where you live.

Funny thing is, I live in San Jose and I ordered before paulsaz (20th vs the 21st) and my case has to come from Tennesse. I should have gone to the Fry's in Fremont on the way to work for 98.00 plus tax. Not worth saving the 15.00 for 2 weeks. I am ready to build my T-Bird, I am just waiting on a case.

Sorry to hear your cases are held up. My experience with Onvia is that when they say something will ship, it ships, unlike Amazon. I hope you get your cases, they rock.

They don't have them anymore :( If you look at the product it says in stock. If you add to basket it is out. Yesterday it said on order (I called rep he said next day or so). Today it says out of stock. I had hoped they'd get more but I couldn't wait - ordered one for $115 shipped... ::sigh::

I'm in Southern California so mine probably should have shipped from San Jose too. Man that's weak, now who knows how long it will take. The tracking number the CSR gave me today when I called doesn't work yet. It better just be too soon to check and not messed up. I want my case!

UPS sure knows how to beat up a shipment. How is it possible for the hardware bag--still taped to the inside bottom of case--to rip open, spilling 1/2 contents out through the one open card slot, out into the box? Screws are embedded in the broken styrofoam packing outside the bag encasing the case--fusking amazing!

Holy Sh1t. That is messed up... if I were a vendor, I'd never ship anything by UPS... imagine all the defective merchandise I would get back... hope the mobo I order makes it through alive.

I got my sx830 from onvia today. Unlike my expectation, it took only one week from the order, including all the holidays. It turns out they have a warehouse in Illinois. I'm in Michigan. I am not surprised to hear about all the broken cases during the transit. The box is not strong, and there are only 2 stirofol brackets inside the box to protect the case. On the top of the case, and the bottom. And they are small.

I'm very happy about the case itself. Quite possibly THE best case I've ever owned.

I just placed an order for one... hope they fill it.

To all you who are complaining about them shipping UPS:

a. The shipping is free.
b. They could be shipping via the USPS like some vendors...

UPS does screw sometimes...Last Hard Drive I ordered spent a week in a UPS truck going around my city...I finally had to call them and tell them to hold it for pickup...then it lasted about 3 weeks and crapped out (6 megs of bad sectors)... BUT I have had a lot more crushed and mutilated packages from the USPS than UPS. Besides, FedEx is expensive.

They could also always send it via some other carrier like MCM electronics...they unloaded my flatbed scanner off an 18-wheeler in front of my house. Go figure.
