Nm, won't hijack thread!

I'm going with MSI's 6600GT, supposed to be one of the top ranking 6600GT's out right now and its cheaper than most.

I dont think 6600GT is worth $150 over 9800Pro for the performance increase it offers. In fact if you are going with 6600GT, your current dell system paired with X800Xl/6800GT or 6800nu (which is very cheap by the way) and $50 512mb of ram extra will smoke ANY A64 + 6600GT. If you are building a new system you must consider the return on your investment. In your case if you are going to rebuild everything but put 6600GT into it, might as well put 6600GT into P4 2.8ghz as it wont make any difference. The difference between the 2 systems will be minimal since both 9800pro and 6600GT are fairly slow or on the brink of it.

Just FYI, but if your looking for a new card and you considering the 6600GT, I think that you should just spend an extra $10-20 bucks and get 6800 NU. 4 more pipes, and then most 6800 NUs have a good chance of unlocking, which would give you even MORE performance. Anyway, I didn't read the whole thread, but from what I saw no one mentioned them, so I figured I would. Have fun with your new build! :)

Im pretty sure that in most real-world benchmarks, the 6600gt beats the 6800nu. But I think the 6800nu has an advantage when using AA/AF.

The 6800nu will smoke a 6600GT pretty easily at resolutions above 1024x768. Here's my evga 6800 AGP card unlocked and overclocked.(16/6, 410/875) Had an NV5 Silencer on mine and it worked great. This was with a 3000+ wini oc'ed to 2.34GHz(XP-90)
I think the pci-e versions still hold a decent price tag but most come with 256MB instead of 128MB like mine did. Anyway here's my score:

Had one for 3Dmark 05' but I must have deleted it. Anyway it was around 5k.

6600GT is still a good card though and the prices are awesome!

Ok, I'm about to edit original post on the changes. This is pretty much final, just wanted to get some feedback on the case choice and any foreseeable problems. Still toying around with which graphics card to get (leaning heavily on the 250.00 x800xl at monarch). I picked the case because I like the layout of it, reportedly it is fairly quiet and does a good job of cooling. Total price I think ends up at $844... less than half what my Dell cost. Oh yeah what was the name of that thermal paste again... Arctic Silver? Well time to update the list.

Please see this Thread
that I started. I have a similar spec as yours in terms of mobo and cpu. People don't recommend any value rams as DFI is picky on RAM. I am going to go with the OCZ Gold Series which is only about $20 more. I just want to get it up and running in the first place. I don't want to have any problems because I save $20 on RAM. Please let me know what you think.

I built nearly the same system.

I ended up going with a SanDiego instead of the Venice and I went with the 6800GT.
I also got the Modstream 520W, I got P160 instead of the P180 (I just liked look more and it is cheaper) I got the OCZ Value VX as well, which I will warn does run hot when running 3.2V through it.

I think if I was buying right now the only things I would have done different is I probably would have got a Venice just because the cost for the cache doesnt seem worth it. Also I am starting to think I should have got 2x1GB sticks instead (with nice timings), even though I don't "need" 2GB right now, in the future when I do drop another 1GB in I will end up dropping to 2T (4x512) which will suck.

Overall it looks good, if you are happy with 1GB of RAM stick with the VX because it is good RAM. I would get either the 6800GT or the x800xl depending on price as they are both good cards, although with the 6800GT you have the future option of SLI.
