Building a New PC, Need Some Advice

Primarily i would like to build a PC to run Photoshop efficiently as possible. I also do alot of photography work so would like a grafix card that can do dual screen. Beyond that. I do like to watch movies on my PC and play video games. So far i plan to build starting with:

ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775

I would like to keep my old mid tower.

If you have other mobo suggestions too thats no problem.

I really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

If you want to future proof yourself, I would go with a P35 chipset board that will support quads and 45nm cpu's when they get here. That processor is great, but be aware quad cores are dropping on july 22nd, and I think photoshop would like 2 extra cores.

Ram: ddr2-800 is hot right now, go get a pair of 2gb sticks

video: 8800gts 640mb because of the dual screens.

less than 1,000...trOver, any idea how much the quads will cost when they are released? I agree photoshop would really like the 2 extra cores but for me it depends on the cost. And I ran a search on newegg for the 8800 but it came up with quite a few similar cards and i dont really know the difference. if anyone can help me out with which i should get, please let me know. thanks

the video cards tough.. id say get the 8800gts with the 640mb memory, since you'll definitely use it.

PM answered. 8800 series includes 8800gts (comes in 320mb and 640mb flavours) and the GTX. The gts is nice because your not paying a premium for top of the line, and it still peforms very well. I would still reccomend the 640, although with a 1 grand budget its a little hard.

~266 for cpu, ~160 for mobo, ~200 for ram, and ~350 (640mb) videocard is getting up there. (~$975)

If you went with the 320mb, you could leave some more room for harddrives, powersupply, and dvd drives.

I assume the $1000 budget doesnt include the monitors?
