But you are lying (again)

In the 7950GX2 review it doesn't beat the XT by 30% at 1600x1200 w/ 4xAA in ANY case, let alone most... particularly when you allow for an additional 5-10% in performance because AT failed to include the XTX which is a more fair comparison.

talk about fanboism..

If you actually READ my previous comment and the review before you accuse me of lying, you'll see I was only wondering why anyone would buy a XTX over and XT, which offers much better value.

btw, the 30% i'm talking about:
Text
in fear .. 1600x1200 4xAA
-gx2 = 72
-xt = 49
half-life2
-gx = 135
-xt = 108

Quake4 1600x1200 4xaa
-gx2 = 84
-xt = 63

X3
-gx2 = 66
-XT = 57

you guys have gotten away from 2 important factors for me.

1) im playing MAX most likely at 1248x1024, or 1366x768 on my HDTV. I want those res's with everything MAXED and smooth FPS.

2) mobo issue ... is a single PCI-ex16 slot mobo gona be the most future proof choice for me OR should i get a mobo that will support SLI for the future?

OK, now ill give u the current specs for my new machine

-Lian Li PC-S80 Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower
-ASUS M2N-E Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX Mobo
-Gigabyte X1900XTX
-ENERMAX Liberty ELT720AWT 620W PSU
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Socket AM2
-Corsair XMS2 2Gb (2 x 1Gb) DDR2 800 TWINX2X2048-7400C4
-3x Seagate Barracuda ST3320620AS 320GB SATA 3.0Gb/s w/ Perpendiculer Recording in RAID 5
-Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
-Zalman VF900 for the X1900XTX
-Zalman CNPS 9500 AM2 for the CPU

Id like suggestions on any of that stuff but im still unsure of the mobo, case, PSU, and RAM in particuler. Im pretty set for the X1900XTX at this point and ... is the VF900 gona be enough to cool it quietly?

Have at it guys =P

1900XT and 1900XTX in most cases perform similar, maybe 5-10% diff, in most cases you will not even know whether the card in the comp is a 1900XT or 1900XTX.

HIGH END
1900XT/XTX
7900GTX
7900GX2
7950GX 2
7800GTX 512
X1800XT 512
7900GT SLi and up, 7800GTX SLi and up, X800XT CF and up

All other imo will probably be mid range and low end card.

IMO, I would be willing to spend at most $30 on the extra PCI-e slot..

It seems like you've already made up your mind.

If you're wanting another mb, I'd suggest either the DFI nF4 Expert, or the DFI CFX3200. Both are great boards. Also, Asus has some good ones with those chipsets as well. I know for a fact though that the DFI CFX3200 is one of the biggest overclocking gurus of our time.

I'd just go with a single PCIe slot myself, if another one is around it's nice, but pretty irrelevant.

The X1900XTX is a very powerful card, you won't go wrong with it. The vf900 will cool the card well enough, it's not a great improvement over the stock in terms of cooling power, but it is a massive improvement in terms of noise.

not anymore...at least I couldn't find it.. price gap is about $100..
but the point is..
why spend extra for XTX over XT? 50mhz performance gain?

Nod ... i think im going to get the ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe so i have the option of SLI in the future. Its only 50 bucks more then the M2N-E and has te 570SLI chipset.

Other then the mobo, do my choices look to be good ones? just want some input before i order all this stuff. My last big concern is the memory ive selected ... is there better?

$419 - $369 = $50

...that's a tad bit off $100.

You're right though, the point is the extra for the performance. I think the gap has actually gotten bigger as the XT's have dropped in price faster than the XTX's. The difference between the two cards when I bought mine was $40, and both cards were considerably more expensive.
