Building a new computer

It won't matter, don't worry about what other people will think if you chose AMD or Intel, there is a lot of biased behavior on this forum. Go with the Intel system if you want to multitask or the AMD if you want to seriously game. Personaly I'd go with the Pentium D, but the Athlon X2 would be a good option also.

I already have 4 intel systems so I wanted to give AMD a try. I have 2 prescotts, a northwood and a Pentium-M. Not really interested in a pentium-D I have enough trouble keeping a single core prescott cool, can't imagine having 2 of the stuffed in one package, plus my water cooled prescott runs at 3.82ghz already, so a 3.2ghz Pentium-D would be a downgrade.

What would you recomend? This will be my first A64 based system so I don't really know whats best, but I've seen DFI mentioned a lot, and I have been happy with there Intel based boards I've used before.

Get a Sonata II it comes with a 450Watt PS instead of the 380 and the price shoudnt be that different.

You want the DFI NF4 Ultra

hi
looks nice
i am building a system at the moment myself... here is a link you can take a look and the specs of what i have and am in the process of ordering...
My New Baby

I would recommend you get a BIGGER powersupply... it will make the system more stable and allow you more growth... everytime something new comes out its going to take more power... I am putting in the Antec TruePower 2.0 TP2-550 EPS12V 550W

but thats just my 2 cents
