building a new computer

Okay I'm attempting to build a new computer, the parts i plan to get is posted in my profile. Does anyone see any problems glaring at that i should change before i try and put it together?

1) Get a pretty respectable power supply. I wouldn't settle for whatever cheapie-cheapie unit gets thrown in with the case, unless it's maybe an Antec case that comes with a respectable Antec power supply. :evil: ~ heeeeeed myyyyyy warninggggggg A 460W Enermax-brand aftermarket PSU would be a good one if you need a nominee.

2) I would get an Athlon64. Well, but if I were getting Intel, I would get the Northwood-core Pentium4, not the Prescott. So look for a 3.0C. Lower heat production, more motherboard compatibility, faster MHz-for-MHz in most cases. Looking at Asus's CPU-support chart you can see that only a revision-2.01 P4S800 with the 1009 BIOS or later would support the 3.0E Prescott.

If you are going to get a pentium 4, I would suggest using a motherboard with an Intel Chipset rather than sis or via, such as the P4P800. As mech said, be sure to get a quality power supply. I would definatly recomend against the geforce 5800, did you mean the 6800? The 5800 was that very shorted lived series, that pretty crappy. As mech said, the northwood core is faster at the same clock speed as a prescott, and also runs cooler and draws less power.
