damn-my post just got deleted, but heres what I said.

How much is that PCPC PSU?
I understand you wanna have DVDs, PC Games, music, so you don't need HT style, which is kinda what I have. I hooked up my PS2, Xbox, PC, and Digital Cable to my GMX speakers. You want DVDs, PC Games, and music, so how much do you want to spend?

Kishan

PS: I love you too. :p

i understand your skepticism over the 754 vs 939 debacle but if i was spending money again on a new rig i wouldnt hesitate to drop my money on a socket 939 board, and it would probably be a PCI-E board too.

for the moment though AGP is still more than enough for any game, so really IMHO AGP or PCI-E doesnt really matter, id just get which ever was the cheapest. by the time PCI-E was a must i'd probably have to overhaul my rig anyways.

but seriously socket 754 ends with the Athlon 64 3700, there are no planned speed increases, 754 will become the budget line with K8 semprons

I'm definitely going to consider about the 939 board, as long as I have the proper funding why not right? But this is the last thing on the list that'll take money as of now, well until I get some more reading done.

well, what ever you get i hope it works out for you

if by chance you do plug for a 754 board i saw your going to be overclocking...snap a DFI LANParty board up right away, this is the best overclocking board by far

also, how long do you plan on purchasing this?

I'm going to buy this machine within the next week if thats what you're asking.

ok. Lets tally this up:

$350 for CPU/Mobo
$90 PSU
$380 6800GT
$125 Case
$170 RAM
$50 HSF

TOTAL: $1165, so if you want to get a A64 Winchester 3400 skt 939 you can, and have about $300 for speakers. I recommend the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1's. Those ahould run around $350, but you can definitely find a hot deal for them somewhere.

I have the Thermaltake Tsunami Case. Don't get it. If had the chance to do it over again, i'd go with an antec or a cool master. Thermaltake case is at most decent and nothing jaw dropping.

The fans are so large that it makes a noise that is noticed by all that walks into my room. The first question people normally ask is, what's that loud noise?

Also, my front door actually "rattles" occasionally because of the large spinning fans. I had to put something on top of my case to stop the rattling.

go w/ a cheaper case, less speakers 7.1 is excessive, downgrade to 3200+ or even 3000+ but if its for gaming with out a doubt get a 6800gt

winchester 3400? i thought it was only 754 that had the 3400, 939 had the 3500

Ok you guys freaking rock

Here is the updated system

CASE - Thermaltake Tsunami
PSU - Thermaltake PurePower 480W
MOBO - ??
CPU - AMD A64 3200+ (Winchester Core)
Heatsink - Zalman CPU Cooler (Flower)
RAM - 1GB PDP Series
HD - 4x 200GB Seagate 7.2k RPM (BOUGHT)
VDO CARD - eVGA 6800GT
Sound Card - SB Audigy 2 ZS (BOUGHT)
Speakers - Klipsch Promedia 5.1's

Now I need a socket 939 motherboard. I was really looking forward to that Socket 754 DFI LANParty. Didn't do any research on the 939 boards, anyone have any suggestions for this one?

Hrm, I've only heard success stories about the Tsunami case.... Maybe you got a lemon? However, I will take into consideration that there are BIG fans.... I'll see what other cases there are, something like the COOLER MASTER CENTURION or the PRAETORIAN, maybe even the ThermalTake Shark (except that side thing is hideous).

well are going AGP? i assume you are.

its a shame DFI never made a 939 version of their 754 LANParty but you cant have everything i guess. i would stay off gigabyte, ive had 2 mates blow around £100 on their top of the range 939 board (NF3 250 Ultra) and both of them had problems with RAM and Running Dual channle, one even couldnt run single channel at DDR400! also it required a bios update for the winchesters....and one bios updat failed too good thing that board has dual everything else he was stuck

i would vouch for a NForce 3 250Gb motherboard, this is a great chipset, single package, built in firewall, gigabit lan etc etc

i would go for ASUS i like their products alot, but thats my preference im not gonna try n fanboy you into going ASUS

theres other makes too.....Epox, foxconn, MSI, Soltek...loads (i would pick Expo out of that list though)

First off, he's wrong, as I'm listening to mine right now and they rock!

Second, The Promedia Ultra 5.1's aren't digital interface and are regarded as the best PC speakers on the market under $400. Don't worry, Googer is just has no idea what hes talking about:p

Well, DFI has a Skt939 board that has SLI coming out. So there you have it.

If they really have this board coming out then we have a winner. Secondly when is it due out? I dont' want to have to wait a month to get my board.

Here's a link to some user reviews.
http://geek.pricegrabber.com/r...08950/id_type=masterid

Check out what the guy wrote for the con in the last post. Also im not saying this case is horrible. I'm just saying that the noise produce by the fans are noticable.

Of course this is the first system i ever built. The second system i built was with an Antec case for my friend and the fans are extremely quiet compared to this case. The looks and airflow is actully even better then the Thermaltake case. Here's a link.
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=11-129-120&depa=1

The only problem that i might have had with this antec case is that the front ports did not have any headphone connectors and the DVD/CD drives poke out when installed. The front ports are also USB 2.0

Here's another review.
http://www.custompc.co.uk/cust...ake-tsunami-dream.html
In the middle of the review it talks about how loud the fans are.

Also i forgot to mention. If you go with the Thermaltake case than make sure you go their website for instructions to connect your firewire and USB 2.0. The instructions in the manual are confusing.

christ i forgot about that, i was thinking more along the AGP board lines though so could u let me off on that one? yeaj DFI are making a s939 board but on NForce4 platform ie PCI-E
