I don't know if im in the right area but I would like some help building a new Gaming PC. My budget is $600.

I already have the CPU - AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz

Yea I hear enough about AMD Sucking but thats just what I have from my desktop pc.

So if I could have any advice on what to build off of this CPU it would be appreciated.

This is the case I had in mind as well.

http://www.compusa.com/applications/...&Sku=C283-3122

Remember 600 dollar budget and I already have the CPU..

Thanks :D

Sorry :/ Im new to this forum and I don't get on forums often.

Use: Gaming (Like Call Of Duty Type Games)

Budget: $600

Brand: AMD Because I have an AMD CPU but the graphics I prefer to be NVidia becuase Radeon drivers always mess up.

Current Parts: AMD Fx-4100, DvD Drive, 1tb HardDrive, 6Gb DDR3 Ram

Overclocking: No Preference

Resolution: 1920x1080 60hz 1080p

When: Planning on buying the parts in 3 more days.

I live in the United States by the way.

Your 6GB DDR3 - is it 3x2GB modules or 2x2GB + 2x1GB? AMD FX is designed for dual channel RAM. What voltage are the modules rated at (if u don't know just post the product code).

Is the HDD 7200RPM or 5400RPM?

Could you also confirm whether or not you need any new peripherals and an OS license

Ah, it's a prebuilt.

OK, here's what I suggest:

CPU FX-4100 reuse $0 (OC it)
Cooler Hyper 212 Evo $30 AR
Mobo Asrock 970 Extreme3 $80
RAM 6GB reuse $0 (if you plan to sell the remains of your current rig, buy new RAM for your new setup)
GPU MSI GTX 570 $240 (although I strongly urge you to consider Radeon HD 7850 2GB)
SSD Crucial M4 128GB $115 (because the HDD is slow)
HDD 5400RPM reuse $0
PSU PCP&C MK III 600W $60 AR
Case Elite 430 $30 AR AP

= $555 after rebates and promos + shipping

With either of those setups what would I expect out of gaming.? Like FPS and things of that sort.

And also this is not some "DREAM BUILD" like I read in that other thread about the posting directions.. This is actually something I am going to buy.

So you have the FX-4100 ? How does it treat you so far in gaming? I used to love playing Counter Strike Source.

And your setup im really considering.

i can play the whole of duty series maxed with 60FPS, BF3 @1280x720 i play with everything on high 35-60FPS. so it does great considering my old a** video card ?

edit: you will need new memory because the one you have is 3x2GB

Yep, Modern Warfare is not a demanding game, you would be able to max it out at 60fps with a video card much less powerful. So the setup should definitely last you a good amount of time.

Please don't buy a Cooler Master GX 650W. It's not good.

The ModXstream is only 80Plus and with 3 year warranty and it's also not particularly high quality. I'd pay $30-40 for it, no rebate.

I really don't see a point in going with an old OCZ unit or a Cooler Master GX when you can get a much higher quality Seasonic or similar for not much more. Like the PC Power & Cooling unit I linked. Or the Seasonic M12II 520W. Or XFX 550W or 650W. Or Antec EA-650D. Even a CX600 V2 is prefereable to ModXStream.

BOXh3AD I seriously doubt you will EVER buy a second 7850. SLI/Crossfire is not needed at 1080p unless you game at 120hz and want post 60fps averages at high image quality, or you just absolutely must have max image quality in every game. But ultra vs high quality doesn't make anywhere near as big of an impact on image quality as it does on framerate so it's not good economic sense to plan a build so you could "max out" games. Plan for playability instead - then all you will ever need to upgrade to is a faster single GPU (and a new CPU but that's another thing).

Why do you want to buy from CompUSA? The card linked by Durvelle27 is easily better than a VisionTek 7850 and it's also less expensive.

Why CompUSA?

Radeon 7770 is easily a better card for that price. It'd run MW3 close to 60fps average (here; 7770 should be between 460 and 560), but it'd be weak for a lot of more demanding titles.

I recommend you get the MSI 7850 2GB, for $210 it is an excellent card and will overclock to GTX 580 speeds. You won't have to replace it for a long time

OK... Well I'd still get the MSI 7850 2GB from newegg because CompUSA doesn't have it so you can't match it, and all other 7850's are more expensive right now. Unless you can get them to match the Sapphire 7850 for $210.
