Was wondering if anyone else had the idea of taking a couch with a pull out bed and do the following:

1) Pull out the bed and install a storage container the size of the interior.
2) Place a panel/lid on the container to make it look like the bottom of a regular non-pullout couch where the couch seat cushions would go.
3) Placing a release clasp hidden behind the floor gap at the base center of the couch that would release the lid.
4) When done the lid is snapped back into place.

No, but when I rob your house I'll know exactly where to look. :p

Even though my house has a security system...was kicking around the idea of security through obscurity to prevent loss of items from a "smash and grab" type of burglar.

The couch is large cumbersome object that gives a horrible dollar per pound ratio to a would be crook and is often ignored.

Given the size of the compartment that can be placed in the couch...could be used to hide tools, DVD collection, firearms, software, etc.

Not a bad idea.

1) Place a counter balance on the back of the lid to make it effortless to open after release clap it used.
2) Said person can grab more than one DVD at time.
....
God forbid that said person will actually have to get up off the couch to open it.

Nor I. Was bored at work and I think up various little building projects to do during the weekens as hobby....besides that is what homeowners insurance is for.
