is it possible or difficult to find a DOA part if you have no spares? example if you press power and nothing happens

When this happens to me I take apart and put togather again. I have found that it is usually not doa part but user error. I will also put togather outside of case and start, could be something grounding out on case. Mabye you dont have power button hooked to right mobo lead.

after rechecking all your connections, its pretty much tough if you don't have spares or a friend/s who you can go to and borrow their parts to perform "process of elimination" and see which part is not responding: psu, cpu, ram, vidcard, mobo, hard drive, etc.

Exactly. I am going through this now. NewEgg is great, but I am running into a time crunch before I can no longer RMA anything. Unfortunately, this is what a lot of us run into, methinks.

so what happens when you run out of time? do stores usually understand? do they ever allow a RMA of all your parts? lol

Post your full specs and maybe we can help.

I agree you should assemble outside the case with minimum components to start trouble shooting.

I always do this FIRST, before putting anything into a case. Basically have CPU/HSF/RAM/VIDEO installed (usually just on top of mobo box), hook up power supply and hook up a monitor, see if I can get into BIOS.
