HD: WD Raptor 74gig 10000rpm

4000 is a bit overpriced. Plus it's not the newer Venice/San Diego cores. I think Athlon64 Venice 3500+ would do you fine. Then you can save the 250USD for next dual core upgrade

Get a pair of 512MB Value RAM;
Get an Antec True Power II 500W as power supply
Sound card you can opt for Creative Audigy2 ZS for gaming

NICs are built in these days anyway. Your MoBo (same model as mine) has two Gigabit connections. You'd only need to get a NIC if you wanted a wireless network card.

The 4000+ is overpriced. As AnnihilatorX said, a 3500+ Venice core would be a better choice.

You'll probably want high performance RAM to go with a rig like that. A 1GB kit (2x 512MB - dual channel) of Corsair TWINX would be a good choice. That's what Im running.

You also might want a 200GB 7200RPM SATA HDD for storage to go with that if your doing anything other than gaming, especially digital photography, graphics or video.

Cheaper, WTF?! Are you crazy? SLI is completely useless. Such a waste of money. Why would you spend like $600 on 2 video cards that could be outperformed by a next generation $300-$400 card just around the corner? Drop the SLI Deluxe mobo, get an MSI/DFI Single PCI-E board, a Venice 3500+ or a San Diego 3700+, then overclock the crap out of it. Onboard sound is all you'll need for gaming. Drop the Raptor and stick with a 200+ GB 7200 RPM hard drive. 74GB just won't cut it, and Raptors are a complete waste of money. You'll probably boot up your computer like 2 seconds faster, at the expense of $130 of wasted money (Raptor costs $180, regular 80GB hard drive costs $50. $180-$50=$130). For the PSU, the 450W XClio with dual +12V rails for $50 @ Newegg.com should be fine, but if you have a bit more money to spend, Seasonics are pretty quiet and really strong PSU's. 2x512MB Corsair Value Select RAM should be more than enough. The latencies really don't make much of a difference, and if you're overclocking, you can always set a divider.

Does the 3500 Venice In anyway perform better than the 4000 or other amds, because the price is a big diff. My spending limit is around 4 grand, I would pefer to go all out and get the fx-55 but I have been told its not worth it. Also, How does the new sli tech work, It says it cuts it in half, 16x to 8x 8x. If you could let me know if I would have to be getting a new case also that would be awsome.

4 GRAND you rich perople -_-

Well in that case you might want to buy a dual core Athlon64 X2 around $500-800 (depending on model) in summer
That would do you more good than the FX55

SLI is not really worth it because the technology is just immature. It doesn't work on all games and performance gain is on average 60% only. Some games even show negative impact...
It sucks power, noisy, heat issues.
Save a bit of money; If the more powerful next generation GPU come out; you can upgrade your setup with the money you saved. That frequent upgrading is much better solution than SLI

Then If I was to get dual core, I would have to pick out a totally new mobo correct. If correct what mobo then, would it still have PCIe, just no SLi. Is there anything special I would have to get for that.

You can still get the same motherboard and just get a BIOS update when the AMD X2 comes out.

Im confused, ;) What mobo should I get if im not planning on having SLi. Just dual core, is it not two cpu's on one mobo or is it just one beff'd up one.

If you don't plan to SLI, grab the nForce 4 Ultra motherboard instead of nForce 4 SLI boards

E.g., DFI LanParty UT nForce 4 Ultra

Holy crap, skyypanther, don't spend $4k on a computer. The parts will just get outdated in a while. Spend maybe a good $1500-$1800 now and save the rest for upgrading later. SLI is useless, wait for the next-gen cards to come out. Don't get a 4000+, those are dated as well. A 3200+ or 3500+ should last you until dualcore CPU's come down a bit in price. Trust me, you'll be better of with a cheaper comp now that you can upgrade now, opposed to a really really expensive as hell comp that will be smoked by future technology.
