I am building a computer for my girlfriend. She is going to use office applications, internet accessories, games (Not hardcore, but significant), and music. No accessories are required, just the computer itself. There is a strict budget of $600. I would prefer to use Newegg because I have dealt with them several times before; I feel comfortable dealing with them. Here is a system that I put together a little earlier:
Case: Lite-On MT950 Black ($45 w/PSU)
PSU: Suncheer MPT-301 300W (Included)
Motherboard: EPoX 8RDA+ ($122)
CPU: AMD AthlonXP 1800+ Thoroughbred ($64)
Memory: Crucial 512MB PC2100 ($96)
Video: Powercolor Radeon 7500 DDR ($61)
Sound: Onboard
LAN: Onboard
HDD: Western Digital 800BB ($96)
DVD: Lite-On 16x/48x ($44)
Floppy: Panasonic Black ($9) Yes, she does need this for school.
Heatsink: Thermalright SK6+ ($15)
Fan: 2 x Thermaltake 80mm 2900RPM ($14) One is for the CPU, one goes in the case. The case comes with one fan already.
Total w/shipping: $602.49 Alright, the budget was broken a little bit. =P
I have some thermal paste already. Let me know what you think. I know the heatsink is excessive for no overclocking use, but $15 is a steal. Plus, an 80mm fan can be used for lower noise levels.
