I have built quite a few computers, and I have my troubleshooting hat that I put on when things don't go right. This time, I am stumped. The computer booted great to BIOS, so I hooked the rest of the hardware up and started to install Windows XP. I get the popular blue screen and the hard drive shuts off. So, I think its the drive. I switch that out...same thing. This happens a few times, with the install locking up completely instead of a blue screen sometimes. So I switch out the dvd drive, same problem. I switch windows XP discs, same problem. I made sure I have the latest BIOS, yup. Now I am wondering if its the PSU. It is the only thing I can think of that is left that would cause a problem. The memory is seated correctly (I even took it out and reseated it.) I could understand it would be a driver issue, except Windows isn't even installed yet, so I don't know how it could be that.
Looking for opinions...PSU or something else?
EDIT: I forgot to include some key things you will all probably ask. The HDD is connected via IDE as is the DVD-Rom. I have switch power cables on the PSU to see if maybe one or two of those were faulty, but same problem. It is an ASROCK mobo with AMD X2 4600+ and 2 gig of RAM.
