Trying to decide. I could cheap out a Nehalem for $1200, no Blu-Ray save on HDD's

Used for video editing, some photoshop & dreamweaver, have been playing Bioshock, looking for new game.

A Core i7 would be a very nice performance bump for the tasks you're performing.
Base a system on it and save on other components... that make sense.
