my buddy of mine is building a new rig with the following components
amd 4800+
gigabyte nforce570 sli
2 GB ddr2 ocz ram

hes waiting for his videocard to arrive and he has set up all the components in the case. He has an old 32 mb or 64 mb pci graphics card he was going to use to install the mobo set up bios and install windows xp. Is this a good idea? the videocard will take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

the graphics card is an ati all in wonder and the mobo doesnt have onboard graphics and only pci express slots and he only has extra pci video cards laying around. Can he do this with little problem just to POST and set hardware up?

thanks all

No, that motherboard has two PCI slots, along with the two PCI-E X16 slots. It will work fine, as long as he puts the PCI card into a PCI slot, and not a PCI-E slot. He'll have to manually remove the driver, after the new card arrives, but you should probably be able to talk him through that.

sounds like a fine idea. I am going to do a similar thing when I upgrade soon as I won't have a high end video card for a few weeks.
