Build Problems

I just finished a build with a 741gx-m and n athlon xp for my grandparents and i power it up but the screen just stays in standby, there is no post code beep and there dosen't seem to be any led's on the board to tell by. The only reason i know it is powering up is because the fan on the athlon starts spinning.

I have tried removing everything but the processor and motherboard and it still does it, it just won't display anything.

What could be the problem?

check to see if the board has a jumper for 100/133/166/200 FSB and that it's set properly for the Athlon in question.

try to post the setup with just the mainboard, cpu/hsf, video and one stick of RAM to eliminate other possible sources of your prolbem.

There are only two sets of jumpers that are documented, they are for bios protect and to reset the cmos, there is a third but there is no information on what it does or how to set them.

The video is built in and i have tried the mb, processor with and without ram and it just will not work.

Could it just be a bad motherboard?

no matter what i do all that happens is the psu and heat sink fans spin.
