Hey all. I'm trying to make a determination as to whether or not I should hold off on building a new machine for a bit. It's not absolutely critical that I have one now (nor will it ever be critical), but I would like to have one to play a few of the newer games on.
My biggest dilemma is over the whole nVidia/ATI debate. Initially, I was 100% for nVidia, since my past experience has shown them to be more reliable than ATI (by past experience, I'm talking in the neighborhood of 5 or so years ago). But lately, I've been reading a lot more about how nVidia has been having a lot of compatibility issues with Vista, and not really showing any signs of improving. With the supposedly upcoming release of ATIs R600 line, it's rather tempting to wait and see if they are indeed better since they are said to have worked more closely with Microsoft Devs to iron out the compatibility issues. I'm not planning on getting Vista for a while, at least until the major problems are cleared up, so that's not too big of a deal (but I'd like to be able to play the DX10 games when the release).
So with that said, would it be a good idea to hold off building until the R600s come out (since they're rumored to have better compatibility, and GTX performance and GTS price)?
Also, are there any other upcoming releases that may be a good idea to wait for?
