Biostar had a pretty bad name a while back but I've used their recent boards and they're all pretty good quality. To each their own though, if you trust ASRock's name more and don't mind the ~$20 more it'll cost you that's up to you if it's worth it.

So to keep it without sacrificing on case, what would I need to do? Go with the original $805 build?

If you want it under $800 than lehtv's first post is a great build to go with, bear in mind that's the price with the Extreme4 so you'd save another $30 or so from that price, coming out to around $775.

Actually the hard drive doesn't seem to be that price anymore so it seems like it'll average out to around $800 anyways.

I won't be able to buy a 1080p monitor any time soon, but should I still keep the 7850?

That is entirely up to you, a card roughly half the price of the 7850 will perform very well at the 1680x1050 resolution and may not have much issue with your games at 1920x1080 either. So if there isn't a real plan to upgrade the monitor for a while (6-12 months at least) I'd say get a 6850 or 6870 or something around that price bracket as it should do very well at your current resolution, then think about upgrading to whatever the best bang for buck card is of the next generation. [also if you don't mind lowered settings on select titles, you could probably get away with an even cheaper card, save some more money for the future]

LOL, I copied it over from Tom's Hardware. :p

Update: My brother no longer wants me to build him a computer. He decided to just use mine, and I'm okay with that.
