Hi everyone. Posted this in the wrong forum, someone said I should stick it here. I'm renovating my PC, been out of the market a couple years and wanted to run the build by some pros before confirming the order.
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Gaming, but also a lot of CPI intensive stuff for my work (involving some engineering simulations, intense MATLAB code, etc.)
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
Approx. $1600 - $1700, but I already have a lot of parts (see #5)
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Canada
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
Intel, nVidia
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
- Case: Antec 1200
- Power: ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ1100 1100W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Patent Piperock Modular Power Supply
- 1920 x 1200 monitor
- 5x 1.5TB seagate HDD
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Read through some, none with the same re-used components
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
I'd like to play with overclocking a bit, nothing extreme.
8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1920x1200
9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Before the end of December
10. Don't ask for a build configuration critique or rating if you are thin skinned.
Bring it on.
My build:
- Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I72600K - $329.99
- ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS - $269.99
- G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory - $159.99
- Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F180GBGT-BK 2.5" 180GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - $319.99
- EVGA SuperClocked 012-P3-1572-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $369.99
-XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler bracket included LGA 2011 i7 i5 775 1155 AMD - $34
The above parts are running me roughly $1660 (CAN) with tax, this sound about right?
Like I said, I havn't ordered anything so I'm completely open to suggestions. Order wouldn't ship till Monday anyways
Thanks!
