Its very simple actually. and u can get that HDD optical drive etc too.

Step1 Buy THIS Dell Dimension B110 Celeron D 2.53GHz/256MB/160GB/CD-RW/DVD/1 Yr At-Home + 19" E196FP LCD for $343

Step 2 Sell 19" LCD for $ 200 on ebay

Step 3 Enjoy your new $143 computer.
Looks good. :Q

At first site, it does.

The you have the following...

Shipping.
Sales Tax.
Ebay fees.
Paypal fees.

Yeha Shipping and tax is extra but u can get rid of those ebay and paypal fees. The monitor goes for around 220 ish at an average so I just lowered it to 200 to be modest and cut out those fees.

Still an unbeatable deal since it has a 160 GB HDD.

Good deal, yes. Unbeatable? Hardly.

Celeron D 2.53GHz
256MB RAM
160GB HDD
CD-RW/DVD/
1 Yr At-Home Warranty

Would it play CS:S, if that answer is 'no' then it's worthless to me.

It doesn't need any optical drives/FDD drives, Hard drives or anything like that, just needs a case, PSU, ram, CPU and motherboard. Think I can build a system like this for that cheap? (I could probably get most of the parts on ebay, excluding the PSU). So, would it be a sempron 64 system or an athlon xp system? What would be a reliable cheap board I could get? (I may not need a case at all, I think I could obtain one for free)

Still on that $150 budget? If you buying components, its too little, and same as buying new. Your only option is to get a decent used computer. So what's happening?

Case and Power supply $32.00 picked up after rebate

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=312799&pfp=BROWSE

Pick up memory on the fs/ft boards. I am sure you can find a 512 stick of Corsair 2.5 value select for $30.00

$150.00!!!

Yuck, it's ecs... Getting a decent motherboard combo isn't going to be easy, is it?
Then again, I'm just going to ebay the board and use the profits towards the new system..

Spec's are not as nice I agree. Warranty is only 90 days as well.

You'd never find a system for 150 bucks that will play CS:S. Unless you buy it used, or build with used parts.

I believe outpost.com has a sempron + motherboard combo for like $90.
Buy a cheap case with crappy psu included for like $30.
And a 256MB stick of ram for $20.

Where is this $90 combo? A decent PSU is very important FYI.

Not necessarily, for such low power consumption a cheap with case power supply may be sufficient. I find that power supplies that are fairly legit with their ratings (like a 300w in a case that actually performs like a 300w) are usually pretty good, the problem ones are the ones that claim they are 500w and then die.

Are you sure that Dell has an AGP slot? I'm more than sure it doesn't. The only thing closest to that would be the onboard graphics chip which sports AGP technology, but is nonetheless not upgradable by chipset except for extended memory capabilities.

Integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2

OVERALL
that is a very good deal, because the monitor alone is over 300 USD, retail price.

Friend asked me to give him a system that can play CS:S for $150, I don't have a system I can 'give away' so I'm trying to see what I can do with this $150 budget. I don't mind using ebay if it can get me what I need.

Well I purchased the Sempron 3100+ combo deal with that craptacular ECS board, I plan on selling at least the board on ebay, maybe the processor as well since it turns out the processor sells for more than the price of the combo deal.

Are you building a computer or starting a new business?

Try thisPCI Video Cards

I don't think ECS is that bad, heck the Dell ones use worse boards...well, on the low end at least...

as for the combo, buy and sell a whole bucnh of those then you'll have a good deal of money to spend 😉
The Dell is cheap, but super cheap...like crap cheap...you might as well buy my compy in my siggy for $150 😉

btw: my mobo is a Biostar...is that worse than ECS???

I'd say throw an extra $50 at the problem and get a decent computer.
Get something with integrated geforce 6100 graphics (thus an nforce4 chipset), throw in a sempron and overclock, profit.
Or get the ECS combo and spend the extra $50 on a decent vid card.

Or if you can find inexpensive athlon xp stuff, get something with geforce 4 mx integrated graphics.
