Hey,
So, I'm getting a PC finally. Still got the budget of £300 though. Don't need DVD Writer, Hard Drive and Gfx Card because I already have them.

This is what I'm looking at. Goes over £300 by a bit but its cool.

If you're at the edge of your budget then try getting a cheaper motherboard and some better ram. That could limit your OC if you plan on going past 3.2GHz.

You dont even know who makes that PSU and it doesn't even have a PCI-e connector... All the makings of disaster..

Are you overclocking? or Do you intend on overclocking? Because if you do i may need to change your eq.

If your not overclocking ignore the recomendation, minus the PSU. You really want a quality PSU, like seasonic, or corsiar. The Antec NEO 550W series is also another great PSU to look at and its not too expensive. But PSU is a definite must on a good quad.

Board: Change it to Gigabyte P35-DS3P <--- dont buy into the DS3R. The DS3P is identical in board layout to the DQ6 minus some mosfet cooling. You can easily slap a HR-03 on it.

Ram: Corsiar Ballistix PC6400. They shouldnt cost too much

PSU: look above

Cooling: You NEED a better cooler if you overclock. There is no exception to this. The stock cooler wont be enough and it might even throttle sometimes on stock settings. Look at the Freezer64 for a cheap replacement. If you want a great overclock, theres only 2 coolers to look at:

Tuniq Tower and Thermalright Ultra120.

Once again, there is NO EXCEPTION to the cooler statement if your ocing, or unless you live in the north/south pole.

Hmm, well I do not plan to OC. Will change the power supply and will check if the Board aigomorla said is within my budget. Thanks, will get back to you lot very soon. And I'll look for a good make PSU that is yet again within my budget.

I'd get some better RAM, some Value DDR2 800 will only be slightly more expensive.

The board is fine, it's a good performer at stock speeds an doesn't have any major flaws.

I'd look into the PSU though, if you can afford it, a Seasonic S12II 380W is relatively cheap and beats all the generic 500W PSUs.

Go with Antec Earthwatt 430 or 500. Abit IP35-E is a better board and may cost less. It's only $70 AR (US). No need to upgrade RAM since Kingston N5 DDR2 667 should hit 400MHz with 2.1V and 4-4-4-12-2T timing.

Contact Abit UK. We can get them in the US anytime for $70 + tax + ship. Perhaps a friend could order one for you. Shouldn't cost more than $30 to ship to UK.

I'll try getting someone to order one for me. If not, then I'll have to stick with the MSI P35..

I'm deciding between the DS3R and DS3P and have been leaning towards DS3P for a q6600 box with non-extreme overclock on air (3.0-3.4), particularly given some of your comments. But could you clarify why DS3P would be preferable, besides the port differences? DS3R seems more popular, no doubt for the better price and comparable functionality. Thank you.
