Bugs with WinME..can we get a list?

I was absolutely shocked to see WinME- another quality Microsoft product- actually has some bugs.

Having problems with
a)browsers ..netscape 6 and the new IE[which is a little faster, but crashes too often][[absolutely no problems with the old netscape]]
IE : page is about to 'start' dloading and just stalls..when you try and stop it or start another page is comes up with a kernel error
Net : DLL problem and you also have to restart the whole system and pray it doesn't happen this time around[for at least a while] to get the browsing operating 'correctly'

Friends are having problems with the system just deciding to reboot in the middle of games/appl...although, I haven't had the pleasure of this little problem yet..

anyone run into any other problems?????

p.s these are small errors that should be corrected prior to the official release of ME, but this IS microsoft we are talking about...

I just tried loading a clean install of ME on a FIC 503+ with the latest bios and it seemed to find all the VIA chipset stuff except the pci isa bridge. WinME says the mother board is reporting two different types of buses. I tried all the Windows VIA drivers but couldn't resolve this problem. Otherwise it seems to be ok but I only have the operating system install. Guess I will have to install WIn98se until some new drivers are available from VIA or Microsoft to address this problem.

i'm getting lock ups sometimes when i reboot, the pointer will show up when windows starts then nothing, it might be caused by cmdninst.exe, i only have my video card and two network cards installed, one for cable and the other for my network.

When I had WinME on i didn't have problems with IE5.5 or locking up at shutdown, but MDK2 wouldn't work for me. Also, the 2048 Reference Drivers for the Vortex2 didn't seem to work to well for me. Lots of games would gets errors from the sound driver and crash back to the desktop.

i installed ME but video card didn't work correctly so i uninstalled ME. probably going to install 98.
ME is a lot smaller than 98... i hope they didn't cut out too much good stuffs.

First of all, WinME is so full of bugs that its disgusting. Of course I get paid to find bugs, so I have found way more than the average user. Yet all in all, winME is completely riddled with little bugs everywhere. Espcially with D3D and certain vid. cards.

You should seriously reevaluate why you are upgrading. Win2K is far superior to all other OS's and I recommend that for all users (even gamers)

TO this day, I still recommend everyone to simply do a dual boot Win2K and Win98SE. Its the best all around solution to everyones needs.

Never ever upgrade to a new OS until at the least the first service pack. And if that first sp comes out too soon, think hard about waiting for the second!

The *only* time to break this rule is when you really need something the in new OS (a feature, new pretty icons, etc.). Then it's worth the bug frustration...usually.

found my problem, the monitor was installed as plug and play, i install the drivers for it and the lock ups have gone away.

I wasn't aware WinME had been completed and released in production form. If it has, then welcome to MS and well, genral software development not limited to MS where retail products released for public consumption is full of inexcusable holes. So much for quality control.

If it hasn't been released, then you're dealing with beta code. So why bitch?
