Hello everyone,

First time poster here. I was hoping to get some general advice as to what you might do given my current situation:

~1 month ago my bass for my speakers stopped working. I didn't think much of it because my speakers / bass are very old and I was expecting them to die sooner or later.

~1 week ago my mic died. My mic was also very old, bought around the same time I got my speakers / bass, plus it was very cheap so again I wasn't too worried.

~Tonight my mouse started disconnecting and reconnecting as if the cable were being repeatedly taken out and put back in.

Any one of these errors would not alarm me, but because all 3 have happened within a relatively short period of one another, I'm starting to think there may be a deeper issue that I have to worry about.

Worried that my mobo may be dying I decided to unplug everything from my computer and open up the case. I firmed up as many connections as I could and cleaned the dust from the inside of the computer and wiped down all the cables.

After hooking everything back up my mouse seems to be working again, without disconnecting but my mic and bass still don't work.

I'm going to monitor things, but I'm wondering what precautions would you all take given my current situation.

PC Specs:

MOBO: ASUS A8N SLI-Deluxe
CPU: AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.2 GHz
RAM: 3GB
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse optical USB
MIC: Generic wire with a hard plastic base. Looks exactly like the mic in the vista mic setup menu

Running Vista Ultimate 32bit

Appreciate the help!

First thing i would dfo would be to clear the CMOS. That should at least fix the mouse and KB problems. But the mic and speaker issues are likly due to the onboard audio going bad on you. No need to replace the entire motherboard. Just get yourself a desent sound card.
