Buggered my DVD Rom accessibility

Hi,

I am/was having problems with my XP Pro booting very slowly.

So like a tool I ran the recovery console off my XP Installation CD and ran both FIXBOOT and FIXMBR from the console.

After booting up my D: drive (DVD-ROM SCSI CDROM DEVICE) is not showing up in either my computer or from DOS. However, in the device manager it is there and working properly AND I can still put the XP Install CD in and boot from the drive.

I have gone so far as to uninstall it and unplug in, and reboot and it finds and installs the drivers for it but it still will not show up.

Any idears?

Thanks.

The problem you had might have been caused by leaving a DVD in the drive. I had that problem every time I left a BF2 DVD in there and i traded my friend for his cds and it booted normally again.

Well I put a brand new CD rom out of the box in and swapped out the DVD Rom and it is not seeing that one either. I have messed up my bios evidently.
