if you pick up this months rod and track (i think that was a the mag..i'll find it and psot pics later) they had an article on the Bugatti veyron, a 987hp FVKIGN MONSTER THAT HAS FVKIGN 922lb/ft of torque at , get this...

2k rpm:shocked:

They 987hp is also underrated and cars are getting 104x bhp

What theye hid in the article was that the four 4-cylinders mated into the 16cyl beheamouth produces enough energy to equate to 3000hp but 1000ps goes to the cooling system and 1000ps is lost as heat:(

Just imagine..two 4fours bolted to make two eights..then bolt those together, add an HVAC system, 4 cooling fans, a few turbos for finesses, and you have yourself the fattest juciest car imaginable.

they also had an article about the BOSS HOSS (a v8 motorcycle...yeah...a CHEVY SMALL FVKING BLOCK) that Jay Leno owns....lol, he wrote it and it was actually hilarious. He was describing how manly it was not to sit behind and engine, not infront of it, not to its side, but ON it:D He also said how he made Harley owners wince and shy away until they found out that it was American and learned to accept it;)

He went on to say how that is how he invisioned superman and batman...just riding an engine

A msut read!

It's funny how they described the strench of hot oil, and overall intense fumes that that thing puts out at idle.

What is really cool is how they make it hit 250mph..they actually reduce the drag by retracting the wing and bringing a maximum of 600lbs of downforce down to 80lbs so it can achieve those speeds.

well, duh?

The same thing could be said for any engine.

An engine is about 30% efficient. On a good day.

It's not the efficiency tha shocked me..it's the amount that is required to cool the beast..as it turns out they can't even have normal brake vents because at those speeds it creates too much drag....

If you ask me that Bugatti is a big piece of wasted tech and money, it?s over designed and too dam complicated. There is no reason in the world it should take a 1000 Hp to cool the car. If it was designed right in the first place you would need all that crap. Hook a chain to it and drop it into the Ocean then you?ll have a Million dollar Boat ancor.

THis one is actually comfortable at that speed

kilgor is partically correct, but you just can't shurg off such a massive phallus..it's practically unmanly to fail top acknowledge is proportions

Isnt the engine powering the viper the least efficient engine on the market in sportscars?

A lot more displacement than competing engines that crank out just as much HP.

The viper is just a brute force method of building power.

I have a few pictures of that bike somewhere. It was at a motorcycle/choppers fair here in Arizona last November. I'll post them in this thread if I find them.

Compared to the Bugatti it's not.

i don't get the appeal of a v8 motorcycle... wouldn't almost any decent crotch rocket be faster? and use less gas while doing it?

I doubt even a crotch rocket would be faster if you could get the Hogg to hook up. I've seen them on TV as soon as you hit the gas the tire just spins.

In a related topic, i saw a dodge motorcycle featuring the viper engine at a chicago auto show a couple years ago. For top speed it was just listed at "300+ MPH" and had been actually run on a track at 251MPH.

HP/L is NOT A MEASURE OF EFFICIENCY, POWER, OR ANYTHING ELSE USEFUL OUTSIDE OF A CLASS WITH A DISPLACEMENT LIMITATION.

MPG is efficency. % of gas energy converted to power/torque is efficency. HP/LB is a measure of performance. HP is a measure of performance. LB-ft is a measure of performance. HP/$ is a measure that's really impressive

HP/L and OMFGUBERHIGHREDLINE are just pen waving figures and miscellaneous trivia that don't mean anything at all in the real world. They're only useful when rulebooks mandate something that makes them important.

It uses an assload of fuel for equivalent performance to engines from other makers. Therefore, it is inneficient.
