BUFFERED ECC DDR RAM vs UNBUFFERED ECC DDR RAM

Which is better to be used in a small office server. What are the advantages of buffered? Will this "bufffer" make things much slower like the old ABit BX6 when they added some buffers on the board?


Does the Buffered version require special DDR motherboards?

FAQ

No speed difference and a bit more stability. Higher cost and can't mix-match ram as easily.

Kg , thanks for the FAQ link. Its pretty brief and basic. More interested in experiences of real users.

ECC is argueably intended for anyone who cares a lot about data integrity on their system - which is not necessarily someone on a workstation, but possibly a server.
