buffer overrun = BSOD?

I have been reading up on the A64 proc & features of Win64. The NX bit (No eXecute), which stops buffer overruns in hardware, means that BSOD's are gonna be a thing of the past? Can someone give me an example of a Buffer Overrun? What buffer are we talking about here anyway?

No, a buffer overrun causes either an application crash, or gets your computer hacked. Usually BSODs are caused by different types of programming errors. Code Red, Blaster, and a whole bunch of other worms exploited buffer overflows in various windows components.

edit: this thread is pretty informative 😉
