The netgear i purchased 3 weeks ago is going back to CC... Horrible, horrible, horrible router...

Its fast the first 1-2 hours after a fresh reboot, but within 24 hours the signal drops off to nearly nothing....

Anyway, ive been reading reviews of the SRX400 and how it even improves performance and range on non-srx equipment (i.e. standard wireless-g). I've also heard some good things about the Buffalo high power series...

Since i have a Bestbuy 12% off coupon and $55 RewardZone, i was going to get something nicer. What i want is 1) Stability, 2) Range and 3) Speed.

Which should i get? (keep in mind, only will be using standard g cards)

Linksys SRX400 - $59.39 (otd)
Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 - $15.40 (otd)

Also, it NEEDS to have the ability to remote reboot, something the netgear lacks.

I would go with the Buffalo.

The reported gain of using SRX with regular 802.11g is so miniscule that I doubt that would make a functional difference.

The SRX card would not be compatible on a MIMO level with the 802.11n standart that would come out soon.

So I rather spend $15 than $60.

With the boosted antenna on the buffalo, would i likely see any increase in range and speed pairing it with my existing g cards?

I played with few MIMOs, right now, I would not buy any MIMO until teh real preN would come out.

I have many settings with variety of Wireless Routers and cards.

At the moment, the best outcome is achieved by Linksys WRT54 v4.3 with Tofu HyperWRT v13c firmware boosting the output to 53mW and pairing it with Buffalo High power PCMCIA.

Update?

I'm thinking of purchasing some Buffalo equipment and would like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!
