Did you guys even take a look at the stock firmware, or did you just OMGZORZ DD-WRT. The stock firmware actually has modern features that aren't included in the released version of DD-WRT. Not only that, but you're supposed to use the mini version of DD-WRT with this router due to its limited flash memory.

WRONG.. This router has 16MB of RAM and 4MB of Flash, and it rocks with the standard version of DD-WRT (no need for "mini" version).

Partly. Upon further inspection, it does have a full 4MB of flash, which contradicts a post in the DD-WRT forums. However, I stand my original assessment that the stock firmware has advantages to the latest released version of DD-WRT, like support for a wireless repeating mode. To get that same functionality in DD-WRT, you would have to use a beta version.

Actually, what makes this router awesome is its ability (when flashed with Tomato or DDWRT) to act as a wireless client. I have a desktop computer which uses this router to connect to my wireless network. I connect the computer to the router with an ethernet cable. So it treats it just like a wired network. Simple, robust, perfect. And I avoid the hassle of getting wireless drivers to work in linux and windows.

Hmm... How exactly do you do this? I'd like to try it out.

It's back on sale for $29.99 AR. You can't get it online, it has to be an in store purchase to get the rebate...at least when I'm typing this as of this moment.

There's a double rebate $10 from manufacturer and $10 from CC.

I just picked one up but I can't get the firmware tomato to upload. I've rest the router and I've got a static ip on my laptop to connect up to it. I've never had this much trouble with a linksys. I'm using the tftp 1.255 to upload the file. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Update: I figured it out. I was suppose to start the upgrade then hit restart in the GUI 😛. It's been while since I did a reflash of any routers after bricking my old belking 54g router. 🙁

Are you using a wireless or wired (ethernet cable;cat5/5e) connection to upload the firmware? I believe you need to use a wired connection for the upload to successfully work.

just picked up a WHR-G125 at CC for 24.99 AR + tax (web too). DD-WRT capable with a Broadcom 240 MHz processor (compared to 200 MHz of the G54)

The last similar deal at CC with the rebate--it never came for me. Don't trust this--keep copies and watch deadlines.

Link not working???
Great router by the way. I put Tomato on it and it is stable and just works. Runs a public hotspot and uptime is 1000% better than the old Linksys BEFSW11 that it replaced. IF it it is still available for that price it is a steal.

Woah... Yes this is old. Ancient actually. I did not read the post dates. This is obviously DEAD. I am sorry I responded to such and old post. 🙁
