Warsteiner;not positive
Sam Adams (multiple variants) yes several types.
Lowenbrau. that has been around a long time,LOL have not had it in a while tho.

Well then I can see you can appreciate a decent beer, so why are you trying Bud Select?

I thought it would be more like Lowenbrau,or Michelob at the least.:(

More like a better Bud Light.

Lite,by Miller is better by far than Bud light.

Next time St Paulis Girl, have not drank that in prob 10 years. :)

Price was the same as regular Bud,so I thought I would give it a try.

I tired Micehlob Ultra, and did not care for that.

Caveman, do you drink "decent" beer at all? Or anything with an actual taste to it?

I've had Bud Select and it tastes like water, same thing with Aspen Edge and Michelob Ultra.

What would You suggest I buy the next time?

I saw some St Paulis girl, and almost bought that..

I have cut back on my drinking, and this is the first beer I bought in almost 2 years.

Here's a list of a couple of drinks you should try, although some of 'em are a bit more expensive.

Becks - not to my taste
Hoeegarden
Killian's Red - meh
McSorley's Irish Ale - heard good things but haven't tried
St. Pauli's Girl - meh
Stella Artois
Warsteiner - haven't tried
Sam Adams (multiple variants) - meh, some seasonals better than others
Lowenbrau - haven't tried
Newcastle

That's just a small list to get you started. Just try something new out every now and then, and eventually you'll find some rich, enjoyable beer.

Bolded selections are *OFFICIAL* BEERS of UNCjigga!

Miller > Bud

Bud Select was created to compete directly with Miller Lite. Bud corporate wants retail stores to have Bud Select in the same cooler door as miller lite. Besides, Coors lite is not really in a growth phase at the moment. I really laughed at Coor's 'coldest tasting beer' crappy commercials. I for one, don't want beer that tastes cold, i want beer that tastes yummy. Bud has so so much money to waste on new (crappy) products and advertising, it's gonna be interesting to see what happens with miller lite and coors lite. One wonders when bud is gonna invade the microbrew market and which microbrew(s) it will buy up first.

I'll just stick to my Bud Light.. I like to stick to one flavor and BL is the main flavor sold on the tap at most bars.. At least here.

I love people who get all haughty and say 'bud is such a bad beer, drink a real beer'. i've had many, many different expensive($30-$50/case) beers, and I still almost never buy anything more than $20/case(usually even cheaper). Sure, the expensive beers are better(usually anyway....I'd drink Natty before I'd drink most ales, I'm more of a lager fan), but they aren't worth 2-4x the cost.

I tried Bud Select, it was ok. I don't think that the drop in taste from Bud Light to Select is worth the little bit of calorie difference tho.
I'd have to say that as far as light beers go, I like Michelobe Ultra.

Different strokes for different folks. To me they are worth twice the cost. I like drinking something that doesn't make me want to vomit when I drink it.

Ah, but its not marketed as such. Bud doesn't want to canabalize its holdings with bud light with another light beer, thats why they market it as no aftertaste. Personally I'm too cheap to buy decent beer when all I'm gonna do is get drunk with friends on it. Might as well buy Miller high life for $.50 a can.

The best ones will allow you to mix your own six packs and give you 10% off.

If you find a store like that . pick singles of these beers up..(i love em anyway)

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale
Three Floyds Aphan King Pale Ale (orgasmically yummy !)
Anderson Valley Amber Ale
Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA
Blue Moon (try with a slice of orange)
Brooklyn Chocolate stout (if you like coffee, expresso, and bitter dark chocolate)

All those are serious complex beers with Oodles of taste!

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is incredibly good. I buy it by the case when it's available. The cases never last as long as I plan.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.

I think I'll stick with my Westmalle 8 for tonight.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to piss in a cup and add a shot of crappy vodka?

How about upgrading to something from RedHook or Pyramid or New Belgium Brewery. Or even Samuel Adams or Henry Weinhardt at least.

Buy an extra 4 or 5 cases right after christmas, that should keep you going until they make a new batch in the fall. The beer is just too damn good. I can't believe it's not more popular.

When your beer consumption drops down, you start looking for beers that you like to drink for the taste, rather than just for the effect.

That, and I'm a huge ale fan.

ill say that those of you with the "high grade beers are awesomer" need to understand not all of us drink to taste it. some of us just drink to get drunk and the cheaper it is to get drunk the happier we are. although less aftertaste is pretty good. Keystone/Natty taste like shlt.

If you really want to get drunk for cheap, buy a bottle of Everclear and some Kool-Aid. It is cheaper and tastes better.

My personal recommendations would be Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Newcastle Brown Ale.

Edit: Back to the OP's question, given the choice between Bud or Bud Select, I'd probably find myself drinking the iced tea.

Budweiser Select is a new kind of beer brewed for a crisp taste and no aftertaste, with only 99 calories and 3.1g of carbohydrates.

From the unique blend of imported and domestic hops and roasted specialty malts all the way to the upscale "pinch neck" APL bottle, Budweiser Select has been hand crafted to set it apart from all other beers. Budweiser Select is created using an extended brewing process that features double the time in the brew house. This extended brewing converts more of the starch from the malt and cereal grains into fermentable sugar for use by the yeast.

Altogether, this welcomed addition to the Budweiser family of beers is a complete package for the beer consumer backed by a tradition of excellence that is Budweiser.
