For that amount the best you can probably do is some cheapo setup from Best Buy or Sears or such.

get Kenwood HTB-503 believe me! And a home theatre consists of DVD player, TV, etc. You are looking for a sound setup i presume :) 800.com

I have 5 speakers plus Sub KLH system and it only costed 200 bucks ( I don't know if you already have DVD + Receiver) They sound incredible. Even after I bought a $3000 set of M&K 150THX speakers, at low volumes the $200 set still holds it own. It's surprising what good sound can come in inexpensively nowadays.

wow mpg, that looks pretty good. it also got a pretty high rating at audioreview, 4.22/5

im seriously thinking about that. but what about the back of it, where it has video in. if i want to use component cables, i cant use that, right?

other than that, it saves me my 4 video inputs on my tv :)

component I don't think so, its a mid-low reciever. Sounds awesome especially for the price.

JVC system

kenwood system

My friend has this sony system and he loves it, I am considering getting it myself when I have the money...

I would like a harmon kardon or onkyo but they are expensive, heres an onkyo thats in your price range I would prefer something with a higher watt though...

KLH 6-Piece Home Theater Speaker System

I was amazed at how these performed for movies. Now I wouldn't use them for music, but for movies they were an incredible value, easily the best bang / buck value I've ever had in speakers. Odd they seem to be now priced at $250, but they were $200 when I bought them at 800.com

BTW, a good place to buy really high-end recievers at low cost is onecall.com where you can Onkyo and Harmon Kardon b-goods cheap.

I have that sony system as well, sans receiver. I have an Onkyo receiver. It makes good sound. Nice sub. I don't think it's bad at all, for the price. It keeps me & the wife happy.

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

you guys gave me TOO many good choices :)

this is too hard. i was thinking of the KLH with the onkyo reciever, or the kenwood package.

but then that JVC looks good toooooo....

i heard the SONY at BB, and it didnt sound too great, it might have been a different model though.

i dont understand a lot of what they are saying, but how good is KLH? i thought they were cheapie products, i only bought their reciever as an amp for my turntables when i DJ at home. never thought of them for quality, but you and others are saying they are. can someone make the decision for me? :p

I would say go with the Kenwood system.

As for the component video question, no, you will have to route the component video feed from you DVD directly to your TV.

Best is to hear them yourself and let your ears decide. I know they have the KLH at B&M best buy (at least the one near here). If they don't have the ones you want on display but in boxes buy all the sets take them home, and test them in your house. Then return all the ones you don't want (Best Buy has a good return policy). Testing speakers in your home is the best way. Most likely when you compare them all head to head at your house, you'll find a definitive favorite. Just remember to not lose the receipt! :)

well now that 800.com is having a 20% off speakers w/ purchase of reciever sale, i think ill check them out.

im interested in the kenwood, so i went to see how much it will cost total, but the 20% didnt come up. i hten contacted customer support, and they said that i cant get it because it is a "home theatre" package, and there is no way to figure out the value of the speakers. well i know the speakers are worth 200 because i found the exact reciever in their catalog. i wasnt ready to buy, so i didnt argue with him, but i will when i make my purchase.

Looks like MPG got you headed in the right direction...

Kenwood HTB-503 Reviews

Sears Kenwood 600 Watt Home Theater System. If that link doesn't work, enter 05798840 in the keyword search at Sears.Com.

Sears will pricematch any internet retailer, so you can get the best available price at your local Sears store. Ya can't miss. If you decide to go with the JVC or Sony later, just return the Kenwood!

Edit: Oops, nevermind. Says it isn't available at Sears stores :( Might as well order straight from whoever has the lowest price.
