OP, I'd suggest you check the FS/FT forum and try to find an Abit IP35 series or Gigabyte EP35-DS3L still in good shape. Other than that, save up your cash. For ~ $115-ish you'll be able to get a really nice board like:
Well, Abit is dead so I can't in good conscience recommend my board for an E8500, especially since the bios on IP35 and -E really don't handle E0 chips particularly well. Even the 18 beta bios caps the NB voltage so you won't be able to push the E8500/8600 to its true potential (I mean why should I have to settle for only 3.8ghz?!). This is the reason I have held off upgrading my CPU.
I'd go with the board I linked above when you have the cash, or as noted previously, a used EP35-DS3L.
