I have or my friend has $50 to spend.

So far, there is a deal for a ti4400, fx5500, or a 9600. He plays Neverwinter Nights. I loved my ti4200 but then Im assuming he might play some DX9 games. I had a 5600 and IMO, they are not as bad as people say but there is also a reason why I sold it. :) I had a 9600xt and I loved it as well but not sure about the 9600.

Suggestions?

poor guy, $ 50 but i know how difficult it is to empty pockets.

Its better u look for used cards rahter than new. FX 5600 and 9600 suck like hell.

For the choices u've given, Ti 4200 all the way doesnt matter its DX 8, the FX may be DX 9.0 but it doesnt have any horsepower to derive those games.

I'd look for something used. But the Ti4400 will probably beat the other two in DX8 games. It should be fairly overclockable too... reaching Ti4600 speeds.

For 50 bucks, nothing.

Get the cheapest posible card.

I would start with a $100 9700p off ebay.

Maybe find a used 9500.

The 9600 is slower than the 9500 and lacks the pipes.

The XT is closer in performance but once again looses when AA/AF is applied because of the pipelines.

I'm definitely for the 9700pro. Try and squeeze $50 or so more from your pockets. Anything else, and you'll clearly be compromising a butt load of performance and will need to upgrade quite soon after.

Yeah, stay away from the FX line.

Complete garbage, only rollo would probably reccomend it.

If you really want to stay close to your budget, go for the Ti series.

the TI4400 should easily reach 4600 speeds and beyond but its not worth getting that card....try spending around 70 - 80 and u could get a used 9700Pro which would beat all these cards!!
