I know it's definitely AMD64, but what should the other parts be?
I don't need a monitor.
No overclocking.

DFI, Chaintech, Epox Mobo?
RAM (Probably 1gig)
AMD64 3200+
Video Card?
HD (whatever's on sale, i guess)
Case?

Thanks.

3400+ skt754 NewCastle $225
DFI LAN UT mobo $110
any Value memory 1gb $150ish
9800pro $200ish
74gb Raptor $175ish

Total $860

You could sub a 7200rpm hdd to save a good bit of money, and a 3000+ cpu to save even more...Or you could stuff it all in some teflon coated tupperware...LOL

hard drive catch on sale and that leaves you to choose a case. This is over your 800 limit but you could save some by going with a 3000+ instead of the 3400+

Don't bother with the Raptor, just get a regular HD for $80-100.
Go with a 2800+ and the DFI MB and OC it.
For the case, Antec's w/PSU are a great deal for the price.

Im about to build a system much like the one Pr0d1gy mentioned.

3400+ 754 NewCastle (2.4ghz) $225
Epox nForce 3 250 $75
PDP CL2 Ram 1 GB $190
Geforce 6600GT $220
WD80GB HDD 8MB Buffer $65
Cheap Case + PSU $60

after tax it would be somewhere around $900, and would deliver top notch gaming performance... especially in doom3.

PSU: FSP Blue Storm 400 Watt 62 bucks + shipping. Has latest connectors for 24 pin mobos and sata. Use cheapest shipping as mwave has always upgraded mine to 2 days anyways.

AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ (939 PIN) RETAILED 64-BIT BUNDLE W/ Details (4-MONTH SUBSCRIPTION COUPON to napster) GIGABYTE K8NF-9; KINGSTON 512MB DDR400. 348.50 plus shipping to your state.

Hard drive: SEAGATE 120GB ST3120827AS NCQ SERIAL ATA 7200RPM 8MB (Bare drive)*SATA 92.00
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA30800

Thats 550 to 580 shipped.

Add a 180.00 Galaxy 6600GT pci express and optionally another stick of 512 Kingston Value ram to get a really solid 800-850 pc with up to date technology.

That's a good setup, but drop the RAM to value and upgrade the PSU.
