Budget Gaming Mouse and Gamepad

Hey guys. Looking for a decent gaming mouse ($50 or under) and a gamepad.

The gamepad will be for fighting games and sports (ie. SSF4, soccer games). The mouse will be for RTS and FPS mostly I guess. Nothing too fancy, it doesn't have to have 10 programmable buttons.

These are in stock in my area and I'm considering them. What do you guys think?

It would really depend on what kind of surface you would prefer and if you need anything special like wrist support.

Since I'm not exactly keen on mouse pads (I'm barely using the one that came with my P55 motherboard), this is about as much as I know with mouse pads. As for the mice, you really can't go wrong with any of the above options you listed. Logitech and Razer make some great gaming mice (I haven't used any Microsoft mice to have an opinion of them).

It's pretty much:

1) Does your hand fit comfortably with the mouse?
2) Does the mouse weigh to what you desire?
3) Does it have all of the buttons/options you want?
 
For the gamepad, just use a wired Xbox 360 controller. They are natively supported in Windows 7 (as well as a bunch of games) and work great.

Mouse is really personal preference. Go to a shop and try some out.
 
I don't have Xbox but I just checked up the price on ncix.com and it was $70!! 🙁

A mousepad can make a very big difference, but it's a very personal thing. I like cheap cloth pads better than any of the exotic/expensive pads. It has the right amount of slip and grip for my taste. Many of the high end pads are too slippery. You might be the opposite. There's cheap materials you can try also which are almost free. I'm sure you have a cloth pad somewhere, so that's covered. You can get teflon skates for your mouse to increase slip, and a poly school folder makes a decent pad if you like something very slippery. Keep your eyes open around the house, and in stores, and you should be able to find an economical mousepad that has the characteristics you're looking for.

As far as a mouse surface, I purchased a Razer eXactMat over 3 years ago and it's still going strong. It's not going to be 20 bucks but it's worth every penny I spent for it and I can't recommend it enough.

Evidently NewEgg no longer carries it. Bummer. If you don't need the wrist rest you can knock the price down to $25.
 
and FYI xbox controller as shit for Street fighter. for street fight you want a fight stick type thing

I've tried all kinds of surfaces too, even the ultra slippery chopping boards. Finally I've gone back to a regular cloth pad because they give the best friction, best tracking, etc

Yeah I might get a joystick some time down the road for fighting games but for now I will have to settle for gamepad since it also allows me to play sports games and racing games a little bit more easily.

I use a Razer Goliathus "Control edition". I find that it is very close to a cheapie cloth mat in terms of mousing feel, but that it is more durable and stays put better.
 
For a gamepad, you really can't beat just a standard Xbox 360 controller. I got my wired controller from a used game store for $15 in near mint condition.
 
Again for the xbox 360 pad. All my other controllers now sit in a box in the garage unused. I got mine for $20, used, from a Gamestop store. It really is the best gaming control pad. I don't even plug in my steeringwheel for Dirt 2 any more.
