BUDGET: $850, but the cheaper the better! If it can be done for $400, that's great. Possibly multiple builds for different types of graphics cards - if anybody can provide them (ie, one for $400, and one for $750 total)?

WHAT I OWN: I already have a 22" widescreen, keyboard, and mouse. Outdated system that will not be used.

I'm planning to buy my parts from Frys Electronics in Downers Grove, IL.

Things I need: i5/i7 Processor (it's a gaming rig, so I don't need that beefy of a CPU), 1TB or more fast HDD, good gaming card that'll play games like COD MW2 or WoW on a widescreen 22" monitor at its native res (I think 1680x1050 or something). HDMI out on the graphics card with sound out that WORKS is a definite NEED. Quality RAM that won't break the bank. A good case (medium, not large tower), with a PSU that'll fit. Built on sound probably. Motherboard with bluetooth. I don't need anything too fancy. Good internal DVD-RW burner that matches the case.

Any suggestions?

CoolMaster Silent Pro 700W - any recommendations for a cheaper PSU since I wont' be OCing?

CoolMaster CM 690 II ATX - anyone have recommendations for a cheaper case?

Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3L (does anybody know if this board supports Bluetooth?)

Intel Core i5-750 2.66

G. Skill 4GB DDR3 1600

WD 1TB Black Caviar

I'm stopping by Frys tonight after work. Now I'm realizing I can probably get a new laptop for almost the same price, now I just need to find one with a decent graphics card.

Hrmmm :)

that laptop wouldn't give you half the performance of the build you priced out above.

You're unlikely to find a motherboard with built-in bluetooth for a reasonable price. Your best bet is to just get one of those nano-sized USB bluetooth adapters for $20 or so.

In terms of CPU or GPU power? I know the GPU is a 260M GTX, isn't that reasonable to the ATI above? I know mobile chips aren't as fast as desktop, but is there really a difference between a 260M GTX versus a desktop of the same chip?

Just trying to figure out my options here. I'd love a laptop to bring into work so I can use it as my personal PC, and maybe game on the side. But I'm not sure if a 330M that Sony offers on their laptops will suffice with a 1080p resolution on their 16" laptop. I'd probably have to turn down the resolution.

Or, I can get a desktop. I can hook it up my HDTV with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and game off of it that way, though I'm not sure what other people's opinions are of this since I have a good 22" widescreen that might do just as well without all the HDMI hassle.

Hardly! The mobile GTX 260M is a G92b with 112 SPs, whereas the desktop GTX 260 is a GT200 with 216 SPs.
