What's the point of a 939 system if you won't be gaming or anything?

Anyway, if PCI-E, see if you can pick up an X300SE that somebody is parting out of their Dell system on EBay or FS/FT.

oh no. save yourself man, dont get a turbocache(or TC) model. get a normal 6200, or if you want, a 9500 or something.(used 9500s are about $50-70 used).

The system you're building is an overkill for the tasks it has to perform.
you can save alot of money by going sempron, or older Athlon xp.

nah thats okay, i dont upgrade often so im trying to build a pc that will last for a little while. and i think 939 will be better if i have to encode/transcode a movie and also for encoding audio. besides this pc is only costing me $550-600 right now. and compared to this p3 933mhz dell that i bought in 2000 which costed me around $900, its a huge upgrade. =]

Most of the refurbs are just returned products that had nothing wrong with them.

If he won't game, why should he avoid Turbo Cache or Hyper Memory? Seems to me like that tech is perfect for him. No use powering more memory beyond the framebuffer if it'll just sit there idle.

My only advice is to buy a card without a fan on the cooler.
