Hi all,

I was wondering if the HD 5850 / HD 6850 can run League of Legends, Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft on full detail settings at 1920x1080.

If they can "easily" do it, I'd appreciate suggestions for a card which is a step below them so that i may save some money - I only play these games on the PC I use my xbox for the rest.

Cheers!

re: other specs - the gfx card will be paired with

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 / Intel Core i5-2500 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) - depending on actual budget when I purchase
4gb DDR3 ram

5850/6850 would do the job. You can probably go cheaper - as low as a 5770/GTS 450. So anything between a GTS 450 and HD 5850 will do. The best option depends on what the prices are in your area.

For those games it looks like a dual core Sandy Bridge (i3-2100) would be a better option than the Phenom 955. It's usually around the same price, so I'd recommend you get that if you can't afford the 2500.

WoW at max? As in everything turned on and all settings on max, including shadows and view distance? Don't think that's possible to run well on a mid card.

I have a Gigabyte 5850 OC to 925/1205. You can play at max but shadows, you need to put it one down.
40-50FPS in Org with the second highest shadow
27-35 in Org with the highest shadow
100fps everywhere else
I'm doing all this on DX11 enabled.
CPU: AMD Althon 255 3.1ghz dual core.
4gb of ram DDR3

go cheap on the graphic card if you have to, and get the sandy bridge (instead of the phenom).

Neither WoW nor SC2 are very demanding on graphics, its mostly cpu.

A 5770 should give you 65+ fps at 1920x resolution with more or less everything on, in SC2.

Not sure... most of the benchmarks Ive seen the 5770, on ultra settings, in 1920x resoultion is usually around the 60 fps mark (at stock cpu, stock gpu).

Im sure with a i7 2500k + overclock, and a cheap 5770 (that you overclock as well), you ll be getting a very decent fps rate(s) in both starcraft 2 and in WoW.

i5-2500K ~224$ on newegg.
Xfx 5770 ~99$ on newegg (after MIR).

Overclock your i5-2500 @4.0ghz+
Overclock your 5770 @940 core / 1350 mhz memory (~87 GB/s memory bandwidth)

WoW and Starcraft 2 should be very playable.
